Surprise from the universe
I signed up for an early Universal Class, but got greeted with a Vinyasa 2 class. So, Hari Om, just go along with the flow.
Sun salutations. As bridges between poses or sets, I totally enjoy. But repetition of sun salutations however, I get bored very quickly. It's tiring, it's not the most creative, there little opportunity to stop, align and go deeper, it feels more like I'm doing burpees than anything else.
This class we also attempted handstands. By "we", I mean "i" attempted handstands. Everyone else was more or less okay. Somewhere in my head though I've convinced myself that until I can successfully float my legs up on a headstand, I will not take the next step. Afterall, that's a variation into inversions anyway right? And isnt it meant to be step by step?
I'm looking at the calendar ahead, and I'm hoping to go for four classes this week (at least). Wish me luck.

First Yoga Class in HK
So today I hopped on over to Pure Yoga expecting a condensed version of 90min, Hot 26/2 class.. but I kinda ended up with a odd jazzed version of it.
We start the class with cat/cow, downward dog, but then went straight to a hip opening grasshopper... which completely threw me off.. i was like.. EH?
The series also swopped around alot - I just got so confused with what the instructor was trying to achieve.
I remember when I walked in, the studio reeked. I so missed the clean fresh studio of Singapore.
So today's practise was to put all that aside. All the new and the ugly, and just do the best I can (i totally rocked it.)
I don't think what she's suggesting is necessarily new or radical.. It is however, an extremely good reminder of how we put value to happiness, or consider what creates it - especially in a time where much pleasure is derived from the approval from others in regards to the things we do.
Ultimately, the quest is in pleasing the grand ole 'I'/'me'. So why hand over the realm of that to others, when it's all in your hands (or head)? Yes, it's not the easiest thing to do (and I'm still trying). But certainly your happiness is worth the effort?
Sometimes I wish I had more persistence in developing an art form. I stopped sketching/drawing when I was 14, once it was not compulsory for class.
I've always made an excuse about it, that my lack of interest was clearly more telling. But every now and then your see beautiful pieces, and there's a swell of admiration for those who can do it. Does that make you feel like it's time to roll up sleeps and get trying again?
U.K. photographer Andrew Whyte took pictures of a tiny Lego man taking pictures every day for a year on his iPhone, and they're all tiny treasures.
The craziest thing I did in my life, thus far.
Typically, a cross nation ride isnt a big deal. But I reckon I have props for attempting KL to Chiang Mai and the Mae Hong Son loop, with just barely a year of riding experience (on a 135cc - uh huh!), AND riding it on a 800cc Sportster.
At the beginning, we were 17 people, and I was the coordinator. I'm not sure how exactly I got to doing that role, but never again will i coordinate for 17. 17 men who cant seem to decide, no less.
It whittled down to 4 of us. (The small guy at the back, joined us half way.)
We had two guys who done it before, but after this experience, I can tell you that every trip is it's own adventure.
Here's the towns we covered.
Kuala Lumpur - Surat Thani - Chainut - Mae Sariang - Pai - Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai - Mae Sot - Sukothai - Suphanburi - Hua Hin - Hat Yai - Penang - Kuala Lumpur. The guys estimate it to be roughly over 5000km there and back.
I wish I made the entire trip on my own, but from the 9th day onwards I was limited to being a pillion cos of a sad incident with a dog. I'm thankful that I made it out in one piece. Perhaps a little less skin than I had before, and additional 14 stitches. Still, the experience is still well worth the pain.
I've never felt so free, open, at peace, and running on a high from adrenaline all at the same time. That's why I ride.
Conflicted
While I am experiencing some sort of freedom from opening a company, I'm having some anxiety issues thinking if it'd work. :/
Someone asked me if I was enjoying the good life now. The good life. It's relative isn't it? More thoughts to come.
Home cooking. Two weeks away from home now, and making a meal from scratch makes me feel a tiny bit closer.
Another year gone by.
Time use to go by so slowly as a kid. Things now just move so much faster. Time, People, Technology. And I feel like the many moments that are dear to us very quickly become part of the past. Like we're in a glass elevator shooting up, and everything is left behind like mere light trails.
So my hope is that I document more of these moments down properly. That while we bustle along into the future, I still have them to go back to and relive the happiness. :)
