Searching for a Traveston || Riley & Cait
Caitlin had been very tight lipped the last day she had stayed at Riley's. The blonde wasn't sure why she had exactly, but she just didn't seem to say much or do much. She may as well be in a coma for all Riley knew. Cait slept, and stared, asked for painkillers, went to the bathroom, and repeated the process. Not even stopping to eat.
Her body seemed to ache more now than it had yesterday. Much like whiplash struck you the day after the accident, Cait was finding new sore parts of her body so she dared move anything. At least the headache had somehow settled down leaving a dull, heaviness in its wake.
Riley seemed to be worried that she would hurt herself in her sleep. It was explainable since she had fallen off of the bed, and had been waking from nightmares through out the night and day yesterday. Caitlin was growing used to waking up with him keeping an eye on her. It settled her almost immediately.
Those nightmares still revolved around the same situation. Differing ever so slightly each time. One time he didn't leave the room, another he didn't stop beating her until she woke, yet they all had the constant; Caitlin was petrified and injured in every one.
Cait woke up from such a nightmare with a start. Her green eyes flew open, her heart was racing, and the woman lurched upwards in the bed. It wasn't the best idea for the bruises on her ribs and stomach but it was too late. Tears had pooled in her eyes, she looked to the side of the bed Riley had been occupying, a little bewildered when she found him missing from it.
She sucked in a few breaths to calm herself before deciding to move. Her legs weren't the strongest at the second, but they were better than they were yesterday at least. Caitlin moved aside the blanket from the bed and let her feet rest over the side. After another deep breath her hands pushed against the mattress and up she stood. Still for a moment, Cait tested out her legs, looking to them as if she were frustrated with herself. She knew she couldn't stand there forever, so after a huff the blonde moved them. Slowly trekking down the hall to see if Riley had fallen asleep in his work room.
When she got there the room was void of life other than her own. Blueprints were spread on the worktop, much like those small pieces she had collected the day Caitlin had cleaned up Riley's home. The difference being that these were in tact and pristine from what she could judge. Her green hues glanced over the drawings in fascination, one hand fingering over the sheet, the other arm hung around her waist like it were almost broken.
A noise from downstairs startled her, pulling Caitlin from her thoughts. She followed the sound out of the room on quiet, slow legs. Of course Riley had to be down the stairs. Her eyes rolled as she walked to the top of them, bracing herself with a mental countdown, then she took them one by one. From that moment forward Caitlin could only feel pain. Each step as she climbed down brought white dots to her eyes, her hand tensed around the banister of the stairs so tight her knuckles were white, and her breathing became something rougher and deeper, trying to stop herself from crying out with each step she was taking.
Relief couldn't come soon enough when Cait found the bottom of the stairs. She paused for breath, staring at the floor before her great search for Riley Traveston began again.
