I'm still on S1 so don't spoil if it all goes to shit in the later seasons, but it's kinda nice how easy it is to root for the the small town love interest over the city boyfriend (aka Cal over Andrew)? Cos sometimes with, say, Christmas movies you watch it and it's like GIRL GO BACK TO NEW YORK your boyfriend is fine you just haven't seen your small town high school classmate in 10 years and there are fairy lights. he's a trash man. but by all accounts cal is andrew's equal just, nicer. and it's so nice to finally root for a love interest beyond 'it's christmas'
