Fourth day of Calamity week "Mercy" Like always, more Nerd’s Talk below. Big spoilers for Black Water Arc!
Ok, fine, it was my second favorite idea in the whole week (the favorite idea will be ready on Saturday and I'm already hyping). So. Mercy with beafleaf, (it had to be beafleaf) and ofc it had to be the final scene from black water arc, bcs I'm a slut for dramatic stuff. All yellow rose meaning - Friendship, apology, intense emotion, undying love, extreme betrayal, a broken heart, jealousy. ALL OF THIS WORK WITH BEAFLEAF. I started this whole series because I found meaning for yellow rose and wormwood and it suited so well I couldn't resist. Position of hands- HX is holding SQX like he wants to break his neck, but at the same time is covering his eyes (eye). It's an analogy for his emotions - he wants his revenge, he wants SQX to feel pain, but at the same time, he is showing a mercy for him. When someone holds you like this, you can't really move, and if you look closely, SQX can't even close his eye. He had to look at his brother death, and even if HX gave him illusion of choice, they didn't really have it. But it's not like SQX trying to resist. He is calm. Both his hands are free and he isn't trying to fight with HX- SQX knew the Wind Master power wasn't his, and the only mercy he wanted also wasn't for him, but for his brother: the fan he is holding is not his, but SWD's. It's a simple gesture- save my brother, not me. But HX is looking only at SQX. He wouldn't show mercy to anyone except SQX, SWD didn't matter. If you want, you can break the fourth wall here- SQX can look at you. I had so much fun, and I mean FUN drawing a scene with 2 characters, but meaning actually more. FUN, FUN, FUN.
