You ever work a crap job day in and out? Get into a rut? This is what happens when you break out and make your own life.
Lost someone very dear to me before this film was finished, but I'm really glad I was able to finish it.

HOT DANG IT’S FILM TIME!!
ACCEPTED CALARTS PORTFOLIO PART II: other observational drawings. I went through another 2 sketchbooks during my application process, mailing one for the sketchbook requirement, and fishing out a few pages for the online portfolio. All of these were done from life, but my lazy ass didn’t make any special trips to draw, I just drew wherever I happened to be. The bottom was done at my friend’s dance recital, where I had to draw in the dark, which might’ve helped in keeping the drawings gestural. For the bowling alley drawing, I focused on accurately representing the motion, so the lines were tighter. The one with colored people I did on the subway, and the focus was on caricaturing and capturing distinct characteristics. I did them in water-proof pen and then went over it with water colors when I got back home.

Did a fun little dialogue test of my character Elsie. I may or may not have been cackling while drawing it.

I'm sure my film will be interpreted in many ways, but for me it was my chance to come out of my shell. Mr. Kobra is the personification of all the feelings and desires we suppress because society and our own insecurities keep us from expressing them. As an artist and an animator, I wanted to finally come out from behind the screen to share the spotlight with my creation. We all have our own Mr. Kobra's, and I want to show everyone that sometimes it's ok to just let it out. 🙇🏻
So here it is! My first year film, "Mr. Kobra" ✨🐍
