In my comic, were coming up on a dwarven caravan. With this, I decided it would be important to practice the proportions of the dwarven folk.
In illustration, you can break down (very average) proportions by the length of the head from top to bottom. Normally, the human form is 8 head lengths in total. in my story, its 7, since 8 felt too long for the art style I'm going for. Dwarven people are 5 head lengths in total, while being the same width as Efrunitians(in my story, gnomes, elves dwarves and such are all under the term human. So "Efrunitian" is the term for what we would refer to as regular folk), at 2 head lengths wide.
I also took this time to practice a fuller figure. I feel like I don't know enough about how to draw people of that body range, and as a fat guy myself, that feels wrong. Too often, fat folk are shunted to the side and relegated a harmful and hurtful stereotype. I want to show in my comic that thicker doesn't always mean weaker or less capable.
