why are tinhats so obsessed with the idea of multiple people pretending to be one person? like, why does eleanor have to be three sisters? why would taylor swift beard with two guys instead of just one? why would labels everywhere waste money by hiring doppelgangers when one person would do? it just doesn't make sense
It’s a conspiracy theory hangup.
Basically they like to try and find certain photos of these men/babies “weird” to justify why they believe this whole thing is fake. Everything is “weird” and “strange” to a conspiracy theorist, that’s normally their entire premise for their conspiracy. That means they insist on declaring how the photos are photoshopped even when it doesn’t make any sense, like when they could just give Louis the real baby a surrogate was forced to carry for him, or give that baby to Briana. It makes no logical sense when you have this child right there to hand either of them a doll or a stunt baby, but tinhats like to insist that nothing these people does makes any sense, it’s all just cartoon villainy. It also enables them to declare they can tell a photoshopped photo from one that isn’t and deem themselves experts on what the whole of reality is or isn’t. If they don’t like a photo they can declare it isn’t reality because it’s shopped. That means it no longer affects how they have to understand their ship. Easy way to dismiss things that make them uncomfortable!
That’s where the body doubles come in. They want to insist that this reality cannot be because it makes them sad and they don’t want to believe these men could actually take part in any of it, so when they can’t come up with photoshop, they suddenly decide these women/babies look “strange” and “different” and decide this means that these men perhaps refused to be seen with this woman/baby so they needed a stunt double.
Again, this makes no logical sense. The idea of stunt doubles for any of this is time wasting, expensive, adds on more people who are witnesses and know what’s going on, including specific real grown adult women or people who can sell a story about how they were Eleanor’s stunt double, and is completely unnecessary. If you can make him do whatever he wants like get a tattoo for a girl, have her the maid of honor at your mother’s wedding, have your girlfriends around your family during numerous personal events, force a surrogate to carry a child as a PR device, claim this child for 2 years, then it’s pretty fucking easy to also force this man to be seen with this one woman or hold this one baby for various photos or video.
These ideas tend to dissipate when information comes along that shows they were wrong too. Originally they insisted Louis would not be seen with a baby. Then when he was they decided it was photoshop because he refused to hold a baby. Or it was also a doll somehow. So he even refused to hold onto a doll? Who knows. Then it was decided Briana was forced to use dolls because nobody would give her a real baby, only Louis was allowed access to one so he could look “credible” while she’d look like some doll carrying baby faker. Then when we got videos the babies were all dozens of other women’s babies. Then Louis was pushing a doll through the streets because he refused to interact with the baby even though he was meant to be the one with the real baby. All this to keep them chugging along and “comfortable” denying it was real. And then when Louis kept being seen with Freddie, Briana kept being seen with him, all these photoshopping and stolen photos and doll bullshit theories just stopped and they decided to move onto the Brett is the father theory and ignore that they’d insisted a thousand other things first. This is how they end up believing in stunt girls and babies, because they do not know how to accept reality and need a thousand other alternatives to excuse away what they’ve just seen.
Tinhats need to act like reality isn’t as it seems, that they’re experts on deeming what is “fake” and what isn’t because they love the idea they’re secret geniuses unravelling grand masterplans, so we end up with these totally ludicrous fantastical ideas that they end up accepting because it makes them feel better.
