The Bubble Nebula, C11 // Emil Andronic

Featured many times on this blog before, the Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) is a bubble floating serenely against a muddy celestial background. Located about 7,000 light years away and stretching about 6 light years across, the "bubble" was created by its central star blowing out the surrounding gas with its stellar wind.

The Bubble Nebula, C11 // Kent Wood

Discovered by William Herschel (1738-1822) in 1787, the best time to see Caldwell 11 is the same time that Herschel discovered it: in the autumn in the northern hemisphere. This is circumpolar, meaning it'll be up all year round, but it'll be highest in the sky around this time of year.
