Caleb didn't have the best experience with a skeleton the first time... (Rust Sans) Then he got very scared

But the boy was exhausted, he needed a break

Luckily he ended up falling into a well with a peaceful monster who took him in.

And then they had a beautiful friendship!

Rust Mettaton

History:

Before Dr. Alphys's death, she sought out Mettaton to give him his last two orders. After her death, he will automatically serve as the newest royal scientist, having to abandon his career as an artist. He will have to find a way to stop Undyne.

After his death, Mettaton actually took over the position, while working for Undyne, he, behind her back, looked for a way to end all that suffering underground.

Amidst all this, Mettaton harbored a frustration that had been gnawing at him since before Rustfell. His greatest dream was to have the body of his dreams. He didn't. He dreamed of being worshipped by the underground for the way he is. He didn't even come close. He still dreams of reconciling with his cousin. It never happened.

All these things were promised by Dr. Alphys, but never fulfilled. He merely served as her prisoner, even after her death.

One day, he met someone he didn't expect to be alive, Papyrus.

Papyrus was found by Metatton days later inside a well deep within the castle. His current mission became: Recover the memories of the former lieutenant of the royal guard and have him defeat Undyne, the current ruler.

Design:

Curiosities:

When Papyrus successfully completes a task, he usually receives a kiss on the forehead from Metatton. It was Metatton's way of rewarding him for his blind obedience;

(Still to be thought) When the human (Caleb) finds Papyrus, two options will appear: Take Papyrus on his journey, or leave him in the well. If the human chooses the option to take him, Mettaton will prevent it, fighting you;

Sometimes Mettaton treats Papyrus as if he were his former audience, acting like a star he once was. Papyrus doesn't understand the meaning of most of the gestures, but he likes the way they sound and how happy Mettaton is when he does them;

Papyrus considers Mettaton one of the most important figures in his life after memory loss;

"Mettaton 2.0" is a "ghostly" version that he uses rarely, where he only uses it to threaten the human or cause fear in Papyrus — if necessary;

Queen Undyne doesn't know that Mettaton is keeping Papyrus alive, in fact, she has no idea what Mettaton is plotting against her;

Mettaton loves teaching Papyrus, enjoying seeing his reactions and interactions, although he should focus on turning Papyrus into a weapon.

Hey guys, I need a little help from you! (1/2)

I'm thinking about modifying some designs, in this case Caleb's (the thousandth time I've changed something in his appearance) and Rust Mettaton's!!!

(I was too lazy to draw Caleb with the suit)

Purpose of change: Caleb is the protagonist of Rustfell, but a big problem I face with him is:

I CAN'T SEE THE PROTAGONISM IN YOUR DESIGN

So I decided to simplify its design even further, I left him looking a little more "childish" but with that touch of a mentally broken person lmao

So, which one do you prefer? The old one or maybe the new one? (If you have any ideas that you think could help me, I would appreciate it!!!
