Motherfuck--! [His expression drops, seriousness taking over. Arms coming to hold Caleb tight to his chest the Brit is quick to drop the two of them to the floor once he’s sure they’re not in line of sight with the windows, Caleb between him and the floor. He’s careful not to squish the kittens in his pockets too.]
Caleb! You’ll never guess what my coworkers got me, us, as a wedding gift!
[SMS: Bark Bark] I need a favor. [SMS: Bark Bark] Two, actually. [SMS: Bark Bark] Nothing fucking dangerous involved.
Meg has been ready for this day to come for far too long. A whole year of waiting and a lot of ups and down, but here she was, all dressed up and make up set, ready for this special moment to come. She was so nervous, but the excitement of what was going to happen outweighed the nervousness. That Barry was going to walk her down the aisle to get married to the man she loves so dearly. In front of the people she considers family and has come to mean so much to her in her life. She wouldn’t trade this day for the world.
[[reaches over the sofa to hug Caleb]] You doing alright dear? You’ve been staring at that paper for thirty minutes.
Invite Only || Meg & Caleb
Meg walks into the apartment building, heels clicking against the floor as she heads to the mailboxes. She quickly grabs the couple letters in there before heading to the elevators, waving to a few people as they pass. As she gets in and hits the button to the penthouse she can’t help but flip through the letters. A couple bills, a credit card offer, but it was the last one that caught Meg’s attention. It was addressed to her and Caleb and the handwriting was familiar. Looking to the corner confirmed that it was one of her coworkers.
‘Wonder what this is?’ She wonders as she walks out of the elevator and unlocks the door.
“I’m home!” She calls as she enters, smiling as she’s greeted by Penny and Fly. She pats them on the head in greeting before heading into the apartment. By the delicious smell flowing through the apartment, Caleb must be cooking dinner. She heads to the kitchen. “I got the mail.”
Finally Reunited || Meg and Caleb
Meg had finally gotten the text from Ray what room Caleb was in and that she could come and see him. It was great to hear that he got the same room as Jack, hopefully Jack could help Caleb. While she was very excited to see Caleb again, she was also extremely nervous.
“What if he doesn’t want to see me?” Meg asked for probably the fifth time during the drive over.
“Meg, do you really think Ray would tell you to come over if Caleb didn’t want to see you?” Barry asked. He was driving and Meg was in the passenger seat. Meg had asked Barry to drive him so she wouldn’t try to speed and possibly hurt herself or someone else. “You and I both know that you would be one of the people he wants to see. Remember those texts he sent you while he was missing? He wouldn’t send those if he didn’t care.”
“I know Barry but-”
“Nope. No butts. And if he does end up not wanting to see you, which he won’t, it might be he needs some more time. Who knows what he has been through. But one thing for sure is that you need to be by his side however you can. If it’s actually at his side helping him or giving him some more space and time, you gotta show that you care. And if he can see that, I’m sure it will help him in a big way.”
Meg was silent for a while, staring out the window watching the buildings speed by. After a minute, she turned and nodded, a small smile on her face. “You’re right Barry. Thank you.”
“No problem baby girl.” Barry said as they arrived at the hospital and found a place to park.
Meg and Barry got out of the car and headed inside. After a talk with the receptionist, Meg and Barry headed up to the correct room. There was a man outside the room, who recognized Meg from being on TV but wasn’t sure if she was allowed in. One quick talk with Jack cleared that up and Meg was allowed in. Barry pat Meg on the shoulder and said he was going to wait down the hall in the waiting room.
“This is something you need to do alone.” Barry had said as he walked off.
Meg nodded and took a deep breath before walking in. She waved hello to Jack before turning her attention to Caleb. He was currently asleep, Meg watching the rise and fall of his chest as she slowly crossed the room. She didn’t sit down, instead slowly reaching a hand out, touching Caleb’s hand. She felt her throat close and tears well up as she felt Caleb under her touch. He was real, he was actually here.
“Oh thank god.” She whispered. “You’re really here. Thank goodness.”
