My brother supports a foundation here called CaliCan. They specialize in helping small dogs get rescued in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Since 2009, they’ve helped rescue over 500 dogs. Many of the dogs are part of the California Canine Cuties Transfer Program, meaning some of the dogs are brought in from California where the kill rate in Central Valley is 60,000-80,000 dogs a year.
My brother and his girlfriend have adopted two little pups from them. One of them, Cinder, had ended up on the streets. She was, luckily, rescued by the foundation and found a forever home with my brother. When they first adopted her, she was terrified. People made her shake and quiver, and her tail would get pinned between her legs. Now, although she still has a bit of anxiety, she loves people, especially my brother. The other pup, Yoda, had been returned to the foundation. There’s not much else about his history that we know except that at one point, he had a broken tail. We do know, however, that he’s very protective of his people and has integrated very well with Cinder.
They often have fundraisers, and this is one that they’ve done a few times. Basically, my brother will be gaming for 24 hours straight to raise money for CaliCan, to help other little sweethearts find their forever homes. He’ll be streaming on March 18 on TWITCH, where those two adorable chichi’s are bound to make many appearances. His goal is to raise $250 and it would mean so much if you could donate, even just a dollar or two!
If you can’t donate, that’s totally okay too, but if you could signal boost here or share the link on facebook or something, that would be really fantastic!!
