omg!! honestly, i still have a crush on vemon too.....that’s so funny tho, i love hearing about people having the same crush on a fictional character as me, especially if it’s like a weird one!!!

I think it needs to read Rick "changed his mind". He says he changed his mind but it was all to the benefit of not appearing culpable for the outcome to either Merle or Michonne. He knew the gov couldn't be reasoned with in S4 too & tried it anyway.

True. I really do question whether or not he actually changed his mind in that moment. I think the writers intended for us to believe he did, but his past behavior indicates that he'll change his story as needed to avoid culpability.

Either way, I think he specifically approached Merle about it the way he did because he knew Merle would do it without question and without waiting for Rick to have to set all the details up. Rick could "change his mind" and still know it would get done. I also think he picked Merle because he suspected it was a trap and he felt Merle was the most disposable. :( And also had a lot of reasons to want to get rid of Merle (some that, imo, had nothing to do with Merle's personality/issues with group members).
