Rainbow Shield Bug on Jatropha leaf | ©Ton Rulkens (Pemba, Mozambique)
Calidea dregii (Hemiptera - Scutelleridae), commonly named Rainbow Shield Bug, is a bug (not a beetle) that lives and feeds on plants of Jatropha (Euphorbiaceae).
Oviposition by Calidea dregii occurs throughout the year, usually on the flower parts and uncommonly on the stems of its host plant. Currently this species is regarded as pest.
