Ei came from my attachments to my old lady coworkers (all like 8 of them lmao) at my first gas station, as well as my fascination with the sorceress in a childhood version of rapunzel. and my desire for more old women in the role of mentors and wizars and such. she's evolved into kind of a projection screen though as well lol

Calien actually came about originally as a serious foil to Nonnen's more playful nature

Nonnen like Ei comes from a bunch of different things suddenly coalescing. my general fascination with social dances + watching too many malambo videos + the fucking owner of a lonely heart by yes video. sighs so heavily.

Qerda's probably rhe oldest of them, i've been kicking around with the idea very specifically of a young orc woman who travels a lot for a very long time lol

5: It was always vibes. all of them it was only ever vibes because i am the worst ever at coming up with names and its kind of miraculous that i managed to get FOUR. i javent even named qerda's wife yet and she's an important character in her own right. cries

Ei: I like her personality, quite simply. its fun to write about this ruthlessly straightforward callous/caring witchwoman with questionable morals. probably i still dislike her design idk i havent really settled on her yet.

Calien: the lens she brings to exploring the world is one i enjoy, and a headspace i dont usually get into. it makes her a little difficult to write for sometimes but once again it fascinates me. i still dont like her backstory that much though it needs work

Nonnen: okay okay i just make guys i think are cool and neat. personality again yeab 😭 aside from this i <3 exploring my fascination with dance through my guys yaay yaaay. i dislike the fact he is my actual son* (* obviously not my real flesh and blood child i just had a long vivid detailed dream wherein i gave birth to him lmao long story)

Qerda: out of all four of them she's the easiest to get into the head of, although she's not really like a self insert character, she has a similar knowledge base which makes things easier lol yay yippee. i dont appreciate the fact that because of this i cant really get around to writing ANYONE ELSE .

5: Ei definitely would and definitely has taken advantage of someone else's affection for her to manipulate them, Calien would to an extent, Nonnen doesn't, Qerda wouldn't.

10: Ei doesn't really have a type (she thinks), and really doesn't catch feelings that easily. that being said she's a major sucker for sweet-hearted people lmao. Calien's type is more physical; she finds athletic bodies and tall, dark and handsome types attractive (and nonnen is none of these things except dark now). Nonnen's type is literally just his friends. he's pretty aromantic by our terms of labelling, and finds a wide ranfe of things in body and personality attractive. Qerda is secretly a sucker for sweet & gentle people too, and thinks that curly hair and crooked smiles are the cutest rhings a person can have ^^

3: qerda's home-leaving was a bittersweet process. she knew ei, and she was old enough to have the itchy, adolescent urge to pick up and explore, but she wasn't really ready to leave her family behind and was violently homesick for a very long time. she also has strange not-quite bitter feelings about being apprenticed to ei as a Price Paid.

8: Calien's always had very high expectations placed on her. her father was a small-time merchant who successfully "bootstrapped" his way to riches and he pushed his children hard to achieve, achieve, achieve. Calien's career as a performer is culturally seen as something prestigious, and her "abandoning" of it wouldnt sit well with her father at all, so she has both achieved and simultaneously fallen short?

13: nonnen had several siblings, and some who weren't technically siblings but could be kind of called that. the baker who adopted him had biological children and also people he just offered his roof to when they were in need. obviously there were a lot of dynamics but it was a pretty positive environment and he remembers his siblings fondly and often, even if he rarely finds himself in the area of his hometown anymore.

🐣. Nonnen's always been outgoing and friendly from the moment he could actually walk & talk he notices an interesting stranger and immediately starts trying to get to know them (unlike say calien, who used to be this way but slowly withdrew into herself). Qerda carries a lot of personal ideals of responsibility from her childhood since she was one of those Dependable Eldest Children. Calien is reckless and impatient, which has both served and injured her in that it spurs her to change her life if she feels it doesnt serve her, but also leads her into difficult and painful situations. Ei holds little from her childhood but even she couldnt get rid of her abiding curiosity 🫶

🧦. all of them are barefoot girlies out of practicality Except calien who insists on wearing socks/foot wraps everywhere at all times

👿. nonnen probably holds grudges but doesnt wver seek revenge over it hes just like "i remember you. bitch". Calien also holds grudges long-term which is part of why she cant & wont stay with her family. Qerda is easily the most forgiving and probably cant name a single person she actually holds an abiding grudge against. Ei not only holds grudges she Will fucking get you over them for the rest of your life #dreamweaver

theyre all of personalities that gel relatively well already (except calien kinda) but they all hold a great restlessness that motivates them to live the life that they do for so long, as well as a shared love of music and dancing (Even Ei.)

oh my god this is actually really hard HELP. uhhh

nonnen i would assign either the fool or the world. his nature as a restless wanderer ever-seeking in his own way can make him irresponsible at times, and has brought him low at least a few times but his turning again outward to share his journeys and joys with others embodies (what i always feel) are the positive aspects of the fool.

ei is the hanged man no notes she is just the hanged man.

calien is the wheel of fortune, both in terms of her own story and her effect as an often accidental catalyst in the lives of other people.

qerda is the sun no notes she just is (sorry that's a copout but for both qerda and ei i cant really give you the reasons they just feel right.)
