Big Daddy:something/someone my character protects OR a time where my character had to be the protector.

Hmm this is tricky because he’s so self-invested. I talked yesterday about how he thinks he should have been able to protect Diane, but didn’t. To some effect, I think he also feels the same way about his mother. We don’t talk about this much rip, but I think to some end he feels responsible for what happened (even though he absolutely was not). He doesn’t tend to feel protective until it’s too late, which is a very convenient– if very painful way to live one’s life. Maybe he’s doing this to be self-sabotaging, so that he can feel important enough that people would die without him. Maybe he’s just lazy. 

Little Sister:a time where my character was the one being protected OR something that my character sees differently than most.

He protects himself a lot, certainly. He’s very naive, in a hard kind of way. He is essentially an idealist, a utopianist. He thinks that human nature could allow people to live only for themselves, without destroying one another. That anarchy would work. But in doing so, he’s assuming that everyone else has the same high standards as he does. I think he learns pretty quickly that he was wrong– but I think he hides it from himself. Easier to claim hubris than ignorance.
