He risked opening one eye. Cold metal bars. Cracked walls. No lightsaber in reach. No BD. He was back in the same cell from last time, possibly only hours ago. But this time... they’d made sure he wasn’t going anywhere.

When Cal is Captured by the Haxion Brood he fights in the arena and then- nothing. No rescue comes for him this time and he’s forced to work out what to do next on his own.

“What in all the galaxy are you doing under there, Cal?” “Oh, sorry, I just- I dropped something, and it- it rolled under, and I was trying to get it back…” All Tabbers could see were his legs sticking out, flailing a bit as he tried to wiggle back out. It was like watching a baby bantha learning to crawl; slow, awkward, and oddly determined. Cal was pinned flat to the floor, arms no doubt reaching further into the corners. “I didn’t even know you could get under there. It’s tiny.” He snorted, crossing his arms and leaning against the doorframe, already halfway to a grin. Then an idea hit him. “Hey. Come out with me”

Tabbers has a new bunkmate. He’s quiet most of the time, keeps his head down, doesn’t cause trouble. But tonight? Tabbers thinks he might’ve just found a great use for him. The kid’s quick on his feet, not bad with tools, and honestly? He could be worse. He could be boring.

Title: Looking Up

Cal wasn’t usually the kind to take breaks, but it was nice to spend time with the crew when they weren’t running for their lives. Not that being chased didn’t have its moments. It could be fun sometimes, in a reckless barely-get-out-alive kind of way. But this time had been a bit too close to the ‘barely’ and even Cal had to admit that.

While the recovery from Nur continues, Cal struggles with the past. Cal and Merrin find a quiet moment on a beautiful planet and take in the galaxy.
