A call to arms for people frustrated with the direction their favorite shows are going:
Although I have had this account for a while, its only until recently that I started actively using it. During this brief period of time using this sorta blog to voice my ideas and to see peoples thoughts on various shows I follow, i see a lot of people being really frustrated with the direction some of their favorite shows are going. Either their headcanons they have been meticulously hand crafting all this time has been crushed with new episodes, or they are becoming bored with how the show is going, or any number of reasons why they feel frustration over the creative choices the writers have gone. I am not saying this in a combative or a judgmental way, keep this in mind, but If you think you can do better, then by all means, make your own fiction and get that stuff published!
Please do not read this as a “Neh, I’d like to see you try you dumb meanie!” Read this as “You have a lot of creative ideas rolling around in your noggin, and other peoples creative works are just not doing it for you anymore. Its time to stretch your own creative legs and get to writing some original fiction!” This is a message as much to myself as it is to anyone else out there who are glaring at their screens, wondering why the shows you are watching are making stupid decisions you KNOW you would not make if you had creative control. We live in a time where it is easier than ever to self publish your own stories and make money on them. You don’t need to wait for a publishing house to approve you anymore, hell, we are in the post 50 shades of gray era, where literally crappy smut fanfics can be turned into block buster gold and its author turned into a multi millionaire!
If you are thinking about intricate plots for a show or story you do not own, take those ideas you keep stewing over, make them original and your own, and DO something with it!
You are not doomed to only be a spectator for other peoples fiction, growing ever frustrated with their creative decisions. Use that frustration and channel that into something creative! You can’t change other peoples shows with a tumblr post, its not going to happen. What you CAN do is tell that story you want to see, and bring new original fiction into the world that people can debate about, and write fanfiction about, and theorize about until THEY become frustrated enough with YOUR work to create their OWN worlds, their OWN stories, their OWN fandoms.
What ever you have to do, whatever motivation you have to find, whatever scheduling you need to make, get your butt in gear and write those stories you want to see on your screen!
