theyre all so like... rambunctious and they’re like a family and theyre all best friends and love hanging out together and it’s sweet but also 

i literally dont have the energy in my body to be around excessive noise/light/movement for more than two hours at a time. so i lock myself in my room and probably look like a dick but i just dont have. the strength

This is highkey relatable, I had so many teachers in high school who seemed to hate their jobs and the kids they taught and only liked the “mature” kids, like we get it you wanted to be a college professor but you’re teaching us so at least put some effort into it

right! and at the time i was like “ah yes i’m Mature and Smart :)” but now it’s like... fucked. if you are teaching, you should like kids. teenagers are some frustrating motherfuckers, they are horrible and beautiful and clumsy and elegant in unexpected and fascinating ways, they are bound up into contradiction, they are trying their fucking best. if you can’t find a way to empathize with that, to be honored to be part of that process in some way, to treat them with dignity and humanity no matter what stage they’re at in their lives, you shouldn’t be teaching.

and all you do when you play favorites with the “mature kids” is give them a fucking superiority complex while they’re in school and then later they realize they were never valued for like, their thoughts or talents, just their “maturity” that they probably only developed as a result of deepset insecurity that few people ever thought needed examining 

i know i’m highkey on a rant but i’m both 1. thinking about the kind of teacher i want to be and 2. reeeeeally angry at at least one former teacher in particular who i thought was hot shit at the time but have realized in the last several years didn’t really care much about her students or her job
