The strange patterning on his cheek made Clara do a double take and then pause, camera still in hand, although not turned on. Was it a tattoo? She couldn't tell from this distance, but it was riveting. Sort of like metal, except no one would purposely graft metal onto their faces, so that was out of the question. She'd only come out today to get some generic looking crowd shots, but she had to get a photo of the stranger, if only to stare at it later and wonder how he'd gotten that done. So, without hesitation, Clara turned her camera on and raised it to her eye, positioning the stranger in frame and trying to get a good angle on him without any passing pedestrians in the way.
And then, he turned her way, and she could swear he was looking directly into the camera.
Making a valiant effort to act as though she wasn't trying to take a photo of him, she kept the camera to her eye and pretended to be taking shots of the view behind him, instead. Hopefully he wouldn't confront her.
