She was bad at kin work. She blamed it on the Doctor, it was he who was truly bad at keeping up with friends but she was learning it was a quirk of her own. Going missing for days on end and only showing up when there was trouble. It was the same, except the slow life never really had much trouble expect for a broken dish or spilt milk.
Visiting Irene should have been more frequent.
“And I you, children do have a hampering on social life.” she smiled fondly, giving Irene’s hands and equally good squeeze. She didn’t know what she did to deserve such a good friend in this woman. She really should visit more often. “I need to hear all about you.” she smiled, a distraction from the chaos that had finally settled. Anthony was safe with Candy. Everything was settling.
She’s never minded that much, the frequency of those that came and went in her life. Irene’s been the one that went freely. A side effect of her job. Side effect of her own doubtfulness of getting close to anyone. Lady has always been different in that case and even with the infrequent visits -even the rarity of them had never once bothered her. Irene found the habit almost all too common in herself to judge. Even less so when the child had arrived.
Painted lips pull back into a smile at the other’s squeeze. She’s missed her and the comfort that her friendship brought. “I think that’s part of their description usually.” Irene is quick to laugh, light and airy and more than just amused. “I’m not entirely sure what there is to tell, darling.”
