See a lot of people (British and British boxing media people) saying that Smith is gonna knock out Artur. What are his chances of doing anything?

Callum Smith would go on to land double digit power punches in two rounds of this fight.

Point being never put any stock into anything the British boxing media says about any British boxer ever.

As for Smith's chances, not great. He's somewhat lucky - getting Beterbiev off a long-ish layoff and a bone infection. Plus he's coming off a fight where people feel he may have under-performed against Yarde. He's got that going for him.

But personally, this is less "does Smith stand a chance?" and more "will Smith fight back when Beterbiev starts beating the crap out of him?" Cause I am to believe that Smith is going to go in there and exchange hooks with Beterbiev in the pocket, likely having to fight with his back to the ropes? Cause that sounds like what hell is actually like.

Artur Beterbiev stops Callum Smith in the 7th round!

20-0 with 20 KOs. Don't get much more dominant than that.

Artur Beterbiev catches Smith a cross counter over the jab of Smith after baiting him by circling to Smith's left while along the ropes. It hurt Smith bad and he never recovered. Beterbiev followed up and ended up dropping Smith for the first time in his career. Then he got knocked down again and Smith's corner decided he had enough.

Hats off to Smith. He had moments of genuine success. When he was throwing out the jab and pushing Beterbiev back, he was landing really well. He landed that check left hook a couple times throughout the fight as Beterbiev tried to close distance from too far out. But Beterbiev is a master pressure fighter. When Smith would stop throwing, he'd use that battering ram jab to force Smith back to the ropes or open him up for a body shot. Beterbiev had a lot of success with that jab, doubling and tripling it up to force Smith to back up towards the ropes.

The set up for that right hand was clever. Smith looked like he was having success as he had Beterbiev in the corner. Beterbiev faked like he was going to circle to Smith's power side but then stepped circled back across to Smith's lead foot. Smith, trying to cut Beterbiev off, throws a short jab that connects but Beterbiev throws the right hand over it. Great bait. Smith never recovers.

Both having success with the jab to push the other backwards and shut down any offense from the other side, though it seemed like Beterbiev was starting to fire same time jabs back as the round was closing out. Expecting him to pick up the pace as he’s been very patient so far.
