DANONATION!!!
are any of you still out there??? God help me, im 3 years late to this fandom and I think I've stripped the internet of any good Paul Dano fics I'm basically scraping the god damn bottom of the barrel
I NEED MORE!!! I BEG OF YOU!!!!!!! RECOMMEND ME SOME, PLEASE. SPECIFIC FICS.. WRITERS.. ANYTHING
So the ones I've read are DISARM Edward nashton x reader by @writingsofmax
and SOUND OF A LOVE SONG joby taylor x reader by @always-andromeda (they may have blocked me because when I first downloaded this app I liked all their Paul Dano fics so i can save them for later, now her blog refuses to show up, not sure what happened)
These two^^ are absolutely amazing, in the duration of me reading them it's like I almost felt like I was in a completely different world that i vaguely forgot about my own life from how immersed I was.
Also I've read all the top liked fics on this app that aren't a full on book, just oneshots. or maybe I missed some?
its scarce out here y'all... I really hope that they pull through with the 2nd batman movie and hopefully revive this wasteland of a fandom or else I am absolutely ass fucked yo. I've had so much free time because it's summer break.
PLEASE!!!!!! SOS 🗣️🗣️🗣️
I've been on both Tumblr and wattpad and kinda on ao3
Those two fics were so good that my standards quadrupled in size in only 5 days, now anything I read feels like bland boiled chicken. Also, Paul Dano.

Do you know how Scrat loves his acorn? Well, with that same madness and intensity I love this film
hiiii!! I saw that your recs were open, and I was wondering what you thought about Dano's characters type would be yk, both physically and personality wise. especially with Eli, I'm so torn about what his type would be because he's such a whiny little asshole, but anyway!!! have a nice day 💌💌
A/N: Bro, I swear I'm not trying to take forever to respond to these, I promise you, I'm still invested in this commitment, and I shall deliver! I'm SO ready to give my thoughts on something like this! Although I believe, in the right circumstances, anyone regarding appearance, gender, or personality could make these characters have their expectations flipped - I'm going to give you MY personal thoughts on what Dano characters would perfer/want from a partner - so you are obviously allowed to disagree! Also, I wanted to clarify that I will not be talking about any physical traits specifically because I don't think I would have an accurate take on the matter, and I try to take characterization very seriously!
Anyways! I didn't know which characters I should've done or how many, so I'm just gonna three of my personal favorites (Eli is on that list ofc) PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you want more with whatever characters you perfer! Enjoy!!!!!💕💕💕💕💕😛

Eli Sunday:
Starting off strong, we have Eli Sunday. He's definitely a complex character, from the holy performance he puts on for his followers to his 'connection' to God - but imagine his love life??? Awful. I can say, with complete confidence, that there's a difference between what he secretly wants verse what he has to have.
For a man who has nothing but his reputation and the false claims he make to his congregation, Eli Sunday doesn't have options to really date around, after all, how can a prophet of God be anything but pure in nature? But we all know that's bullshit because Eli is someone who's envious for power, for wealth, for pleasure in all the wrong places, hungry for a life he condemns yet reaches for through the name of God.
So the question of who he's attracted to verse who he's allowed to be with are two sides of the same coin.
Personally, I believe that Eli is queer to some extent, not to say that he isn't attracted to women, but he definitely isn't straight. Unfortunately for him, he's a preacher AND lives in 1902 America, and he's not gonna be able publicly intimate with the same sex anytime soon - and if he was, it would be in secret, and it would turn rotten guilt in Eli’s stomach at the 'sinful' acts he's committed. What I truly believe Eli is attracted to is wealth, money, power, a life of luxury - the idea of silk robes and upper class society sounds more heavenly to him then Heaven itself, especially when he grew up with a poor family and their only 'riches' coming from God.
Though, with the option of being married, he needs someone who's obedient to him. Probably a young, naive woman from a decent enough family in his congregation, someone he can influence easily, or at the very least not question him. Unfortunately, Eli Sunday is a fragile, weak man with an even weaker and larger ego that is completely untreatable, and his wife would reflect him.
I wouldn't want this to matter, but look at Abel, Eli’s father. That's the man he's had to look up to all his life - so I can only imagine what things he's witnessed that would be glossed over as acceptable or ignored - though I wouldn't outright say Eli would be abusive like his father, Lord knows Eli doesn't respect the man, but he needs someone who stays in lines of meek, pure, quiet, devoted wife, and who really knows what happens behind closed doors if those lines are ever crossed. Intimacy be damned, Eli can't afford it. Either way you look at it, you're asking for toxic romance with Eli Sunday - the man is committed to the facade above all else. (Love his character tho.)
Calvin Weir-Fields:
I mean... have you seen Ruby Sparks? It's kinda obvious what his type is since he literally wrote it out on paper, so it's kinda hard to beat his dream girl. Though, I can say that Zoe Kazen did write one hell of a character to go off of, so we can just start from there. It's pretty clear to me that he inherently wanted a manic-pixie dream girl.
I know manic-pixie dream girls get a really bad reputation because they are basically props to leading male characters with depression or something along those lines, but Zoe Kazen wrote Ruby Sparks well to flip this trope around by adding more complex ideas to it by making Ruby actively have her own goals and want to be more independent outside of Calvin - even though Calvin didn't write her to want that for herself.
However, not to say that Calvin towards the end of the movie hadn't went through his character growth and eventually come to terms with his actions and such (which was kinda summed up in a montage - which I wished was more fleshed out because it felt too brushed over but you get the idea) when he later meets a girl in the park who resembles Ruby - we can assume this relationship can work out more smoothly.
And with that, we can keep the manic-pixie dream girl traits and yet assume that they are more in depth and have more healthier boundaries, and with some hopeful wishing, a much happier relationship than Calvin's last one.
Ideally, he wants someone he can have a conversations with and change his perception of thinking, someone who challenges his ideologies with their own, and have their own special and neat quirks, hobbies, passions, and goals. Someone to nudge him out of his comfort zone in all aspects - even when it doesn't always feel good for him (he needs it.) And ideally, just because he's still gonna have small lingering traits of insecurities, (because I canon that he's still a human being who learned his lesson and knows it's not anyone's responsibility but his own to do the work of healing and undoing deep-rooted wiring, but we all have our moments where we slip up) he hopes that person is more of a homebody - social enough to go out and such, but maybe just not minding to stay at home with him sometimes and actually perfer it.
Calvin is definitely quite the character, and some believe he's unforgivable, which is fair to a point, but he's very human when it comes to his flaws and how they reflect on his life and his ideologies - but as long as he takes accountability for when he's in the wrong, listens rather than responding automatically, is kind and actively make an effort to improve on toxic behavior - Calvin is redeemable in my book.
Louis Ives:
Ugh, my darling Louis Ives, how I adore you so. Louis Ives is my personal favorite out of all of Dano's characters because I relate so much to him in so many ways that almost feel ridiculous to say.
Louis Ives is a gentle soul, someone who romanticizes the social courtesies of the past, specially during the 1920's, wanting to be a great writer, and he's such a dashing gentleman with a heart of gold, while also having curiosities of femininity and gender questioning or gender dysphoria, wanting to be a beautiful woman.
It's such a beautiful story to me, and I adore Louis with all my heart, and I know that many people feel that Louis should've ended up being a transwoman in the end, and believe that he will eventually come to fully realize that - which isn't a babd thing by any means - but from someone who understands exactly that feeling to dabble in such ventures and to have similar results, I believe a permanent result would've felt too forced onto his character rather than allowing him to still feel comfortable in his own skin while sometimes embracing in his femininity.
With that in mind, I believe that Louis Ives would be willing to be with anyone - not to say he's outright pansexual, but I won't say he's not - and anyone who is very accepting of his gender questioning and confusion, and even encouraging of it outside of sexual acts and fetishization. Someone who appreciates and adores the gentleman as much as the lady, who's comfortable with both at any point in time, and patient enough when he struggles with his own mind and emotions.
He needs someone stable to ground him yet to uplift him to allow him to feel feminine, he needs a balance without feeling like he needs to choose a role when Louis just needs to be Louis
