Where'd she go?
I caught a fleeting glimpse of these triplets in early June, when they were still teetering on wobbly legs. They declined to pose for a photo then and have been notoriously camera-shy ever since.
They showed up in our backyard with their mother Saturday afternoon, but stayed too far apart from each other for a family portrait ... until Mom disappeared into the brush and her fawns gathered to investigate.
Even in southern Michigan, where winters are relatively mild and food is abundant, triplet fawns are pretty rare. Only about 5 percent of the does in healthy Midwest herds bear triplets.
