Thrill Kill by Cameron Curtis
Breed Thriller #12
~ Intense, immersive, action-packed thrill-ride from beginning to end ~ Couldn’t put it down ~
What I liked: * Breed: ex-army Delta Force sniper, requested retirement post traumatic military engagement, strong, strategic thinker, lethal, dependable, protective, intriguing, intelligent, excellent and varied skills, independent contractor, battle-scarred, survivor, attractive to women, someone I would like to have as a friend and definitely would want in my corner if in trouble
* Leisl: mid-twenties year old assistant to magician and grandfather Strang, illusionist, magician, bright, innocent, supportive, chooses Breed for something important to her, wonder if she will show up in the future
* Käthe: performer, has seen much, seeking a way out, asks Breed for a favor, wonder if she will show up again in the future
* Anya: Anya Stein: assistant CIA Director, intelligent, experienced in field work, strategic thinker, capable, dedicated, intriguing, wealthy, good communicator, diplomatic, a bit of an enigma
The plot, pacing, setting, and writing – having visited Vienna in the past, I felt I was there
* The look into what it might be like to be a double agent, selling information to the highest bidder, trying to change sides safely, being hunted, and more
* Wondering what makes people like Breed excellent at what they do
* Considering that people like Breed and Orlove have similar skills and jobs though they work for opposing countries
* Being able to hate the baddies and wish Karma – or Breed – will deal with them
* It provided me an escape for the period of time I was immersed in the story
* Thinking about what Breed might be doing next
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like
* The willingness to harm those that were in the way of the assignment/target and having no qualms about interrogating, torturing, or killing just about anyone

A defector on the run. A faceless assassin. Breed’s toughest mission. When CIA operator Anya Stein offers Breed a job in Vienna, he arrives just in time to save her from Russian assassins led by a deadly blonde in dark sunglasses. Stein explains the mission: protect defecting rocket scientist Dieter Kromik, who holds the secret to Russia's devastating Oreshnik missile – a conventional weapon that delivers a nuclear-sized punch. The Russians already have elite teams on the ground – and they’ll do whatever it takes to find and kill Kromik. Spetsnaz teams and the enigmatic assassin Strelko hunt them through the streets of Vienna and escape seems impossible. Their only hope lies with the Magnificent Strang, an aging Cold War-era magician who once smuggled fugitives across the Iron Curtain. With his beautiful granddaughter Liesl, Strang guides the group on a deadly journey from Vienna to Prague to Berlin. Outnumbered and outgunned at every turn, Breed fights a running battle across Europe as the body counts rises. The bloody finale awaits in a smoky Berlin nightclub, where Breed and Stein must use every one of their lethal skills – and a few of Strang’s illusions – to survive against impossible odds. Thrill Kill – Book Twelve in the stunning Breed action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Jason Kasper, Jack Carr, and Lee Child.

Evil has a heartbeat. And it echoes in the bayou. Breed gets an email from Ellie, a teenager he befriended in the past. The message is simple – she’s in New Orleans and needs help. She’s not lying. Within minutes of meeting Ellie, Breed is fighting off thugs who are trying to kill her. The reason? Ellie has evidence that her sister, Rowan, has been kidnapped from a children’s shelter. And it gets worse. Two kids have already been taken from the shelter – both murdered within days of their disappearance in what appear to be Voodoo sacrifices. As Breed and Ellie race to save Rowan, they find themselves outgunned by a small army of heavily armed gangsters, part of a sinister conspiracy that reaches from the shelter into the corrupt halls of a local hospital. Following a lead, Breed travels deep into the bayou, where he battles murderous Cajun poachers and finds himself drawn to a beautiful Voodoo princess. Good or evil, she holds the key to the murders…and Breed’s past. In the stunning climax, Breed and Ellie arrive at a dark plantation house where they face an evil beyond anything Breed has ever encountered. Blowback by Cameron Curtis
A Breed Thriller #10
Action-packed chase that leads Breed and Stein on a multi-country chase as they seek to find a stolen nuclear missile and make sure it is not used maliciously ~ Couldn’t put it down
What I liked: * Breed: intriguing, strong, lethal, intelligent, ex-military, sniper, excellent and varied skills, independent contractor, battle-scarred, survivor, attractive to women, someone I would like to have as a friend and definitely would want in my corner if in trouble
* Anya Stein: assistant CIA Director, intelligent, experience in field work, strategic thinker, capable, dedicated, intriguing, wealthy, good communicator, diplomatic
* Ellie: teenager, on her own, survivor, lives in underground New York, helpful, intelligent, independent, capable, protective, someone I would like to see again
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* That the story is current politically and worth contemplating – brings enough fact into fiction to give me pause
* That though focused on an invasion in the country I live in and there were triggers in this story that made it difficult to read, I found that once I got past my situation, I couldn’t put it down
* The slow-burn of what may or may not eventually happen between Breed and Stein
* Wondering what will happen in the next book
* All of it except…
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about wars and how much damage they do with lives lost, land damaged, mental & physical trauma, and the fact that both sides in a war are usually fighting for what they believe is right…

When two billion dollars of gold are stolen, you don’t call the cops. You call Breed.
The Medusa, a freighter carrying gold bullion worth two billion dollars, is hijacked off the coast of Greece. Using sophisticated technology, the hijackers make the vessel disappear. The CIA’s deputy director, Anya Stein, recruits Breed to locate the vessel and recover the gold.
Breed and Stein trace the missing vessel to the mouth of the Aegean Sea, between the islands of Rhodes and Crete. Realising Breed is on their trail, the hijackers do everything they can to stop him – permanently.
Breed and Stein enlist the aid of a Greek shipping magnate, his fiery daughter, and the USS Pressley Bannon, currently based out of Crete. With their help, Breed uses all his Special Forces training to find the Medusa, break into the hijackers’ base, and serve the killers his own lethal brand of justice.
This time, it’s hard contact all the way.
