Bless you! Also, I’m sorry idk why it ended up so angsty
When the news finally came back there was only horror. May asked frantically if anyone knew where her nephew was, but the city was too big and there were too many people. When she heard talk of the ship that left orbit she knew that Peter was on it.
He can’t be dead, May thought wiping her eyes.
Day turned to months, months turned to years. It was hard to accept that he was gone. The weekly support groups never helped. She had to hold his secret inside like a cage, and she couldn’t tell anyone what happened to her nephew.
May wondered if anything would ever feel normal again…
May shot up in her bed the emptiness still hollowed out in her chest. Pepper rolled over, but she didn’t wake. May leaned over and hugged Pepper tightly trying to hold the sobs in. The phantom memories wouldn’t leave her head.
“Are you okay?” Pepper asked sleep lingering in her voice.
“Was it the dream again?” Pepper asked.
Pepper’s brow knitted in concern. “That guy on tv did say that some people would be more affected than others…” She said softly.
“They’ve gone on for months,” May mumbled.
“We spent years after the snap trying to reverse everything. Things are going to feel strange for a while,” Pepper said.
“None of it happened,” May said.
Pepper ran her fingers through May’s hair. “That doesn’t make it any less real to you.”
Pepper alarm went off from the other side of the room. She turned to May and kissed her on the nose. “Duty calls.”
May watched as Pepper stood up and her suit formed around her. The roof opened only for long enough to let Rescue fly out then it closed with a loud crash. May stared at the roof then cuddle up in the blankets wishing that Pepper didn’t have to leave. She hoped Peter was still in bed and that it was a small threat and that Pepper would come back and tell her how easy the mission was and how it was barely worth her time… But she knew that it could be serious. It had been before.
