As awful as the last few days have been, Danny is glad to be getting around and enjoying himself. The whole festival rings a bit hallow when he knows it’s just a matter of time before shit hits the fan and he’s forced to confront his parents for work every day while also trying to figure out where in the fuck his sister is. It’s like playing the world’s most demented game of Where’s Waldo.
But right now, he’s with Cameron, and he’s determined to make sure they both have an amazing time. She deserves it after the great prison escape. Even if technically her prison escape is making bail and his parents dropping charges.
The only thing hanging in the air is what she had said earlier.
“So,” Danny starts, “What did you need to talk to me about?”
They’re walking through the long expanse of the game areas, watching as teenage dreamboats try to win things for their girlfriends. He wonders, idly, if he should try and win Darcy something. He’s not sure she would even like a stuffed chimpanzee hanging from a hook but it’s the thought that counts, right?
“There’s a girl, you can’t tell me her name and you’re...” he trails off, hoping that she’ll finish it quickly so he can find out exactly what’s been going on. Cam’s been talking in weird phrases and dodging questions about the situation left and right. The fact that she hasn’t even told him a name yet is killing him, but he’s trying to be good and respect her privacy.
