OKAY SO they were honest to god the first pairing i really really really shiped and made fanart for. they totally rewired my brain when i was 12 years old and i think it’s because they work as their own characters, while still being instrumental in each other’s character development. they are fisrt and foremost best friends, comrades in arms, and what keeps them standing even after the most devastating blows. i love how much they respect each other as individuals, and how loyal they are, to the point of literally going through hell and back so they can protect each other. i also think that the long term pining/slowburn of it all is a deciding factor (i am a sucker for the drawn out confessions, the tender silences, the unspoken declarations), i just love the beat friends to lovers trope a lot 💛

I can definitely see where people think autism; however, for me, my brain is like, “Okay, well, is he autistic, or is it just the environment he grew up in that's giving him autistic traits, considering he was rather isolated? Therefore, that's why he doesn't always understand social cues, and the amount of knowledge he has is what he was taught because he needed to become an expert in so many things... and also, is Bruce autistic, or is it just the trauma he has from seeing his parents die in front of him?”
But honestly the short answer is that either interpretation works.
