DARK WATERS CAMPAIGN
There are stories and legends from old timers of how once upon a time there used to be beautiful merfolk in the inner ocean. Kind and wise and beautiful and reclusive, found only in just the right weather in just the right places during just the right phase of the moon. The last few generations these sighting have stopped, and the inland ocean has become an inexplicably dangerous place to fish or sail. Ships go missing and wash up later torn to pieces, or never seen at all. Shipping has become ridiculously expensive because of the danger and longer routes that have to be taken to stay in the safety of the shallows. Even piracy has slowed to nearly nothing. Port towns that used to be busy and prosperous hubs of commerce have dwindled and fallen to shambles and disrepair with all the but the most hearty, stubborn, or poor having gradually left. It’s become common see homes repaired with salvaged materials from boats, or wagons/carts made from boats.
The previously turquoise waters are beginning to grow dark, no matter how bright the sun shines down.
UNNATURAL INSPIRATION CAMPAIGN
Walnut Grove has become a ghost town. Once just another town on the road, populated by farmers and a small but reputable craftsman’s guild, the town has suddenly been found empty. Buyers seeking to make purchases from the guild find no welcome at the guild hall or warehouse, and not a soul in sight. The windows and doors are all dark, and none have had the nerve to do anything beyond peer through the windows or knock cautiously on the doors. No exodus of people has been seen on the road, either.
Silence has fallen over the town, and there is no one left to even try to explain it.
