I was accepted ED1. I have a conflict for the Admitted Student program, so I plan to visit on my own. I have visited Smith but not while classes were in session. Any suggestion on what classes to attend? Any way to check out houses? What else should I do?

Hi there! Congratulations on getting into Smith :) In terms of what classes to sit in on - I would say that’s totally up to you and your interests! You can see the Smith Spring 2017 Course Catalog by clicking here and scrolling down and clicking “Schedule of Classes Spring 2017” under “Schedule of Classes.” This will list all the classes offered this semester and their meeting times, locations, and professors. Just make sure to shoot the professor an email asking if you can sit in on a class before attending. (All professors have a page on Smith’s website where you can find their contact information - just google their name and it should pop up!)

For checking out houses, many current students (especially the SmithBySmithies bloggers) would be more than happy to show you around their house. I would just send a blogger a direct message if they live in an area of campus that you’re interested in. Click here and here to learn more about specific houses and areas of campus.

There is SO much to see on Smith’s campus and in the surrounding area. Personally, I would recommend checking out a coffee shop downtown (WoodStar and Haymarket are my favorites), visiting the Botanical Gardens, and scheduling a tour (on tours you will also most likely get to see the inside of your tour guide’s house as well as several academic buildings and libraries). hey! I've been accepted for the class of 2021 and I'm super pumped, but I'd only be able to make the second day of the accepted students event. do you think it would be ok for me to miss the first day, or does it make more sense to visit another time?

Congratulations on your acceptance! It’s totally fine if you don’t make the accepted students event. I never visited Smith before attending and I loved the college either way. If you are economically and geographically able to visit the college, then go for it. However, it is not a necessity. There are plenty of online resources that can provide you with answers to your questions and concerns. You can always reach out through this site to post inquiries. Visiting the college on just the second day of the event is great!
