Full moon low tide beach honking, minus 1.4 today. I am accustomed to chemical burns,

the cuts that come with a global detonation.

There is stillness in this sorrow,

a sense of the rise and fall of time,

the undulations of months and years.

I am not drowning or staring

up at the foam of an avalanche.

I am waiting for a bus in the cold,

knowing the rain will end with 40%

certainty in one hour, 80% in two.

So I accept the bubbling skin,

the tidal shivering,

the feeling of staring at stars,

the dimming light of distancing harbors.

Here, the water drops

with steady pulse,

and I find comfort in the streetlights

twitching yellow-red-green 

here with me also 

standing in the rain.
