May Day 1909
This one hundred year old image features primary grade students from the Training School on the Western Washington University campus participating in maypole festivities. Teacher Catherine Montgomery is pictured in the background. A large format version of this photo was exhibited at the Alaska-Yukon Exposition in Seattle in 1909.
Happy Easter!
A part of Campus School was studying nations and cultures from around the world. Pictured here are students in 1963 learning about the German tradition of decorating trees with Easter eggs.
Class project!
In 1927 the eighth grade Industrial Arts class taught by Herbert C. Ruckmick was assigned to build a playhouse. The eighth graders first created models and the second graders then picked their favorite, and it was built. Photos show the eighth graders sharing their designs, second photo shows it under construction in the background, and the third photo shows the completed building in 1934.
