STARGATE SG-1 / "New Order part 2"
Oh look, another blogpost about a Celtic Mars type of god
Inscription to Mars Camulus There are multiple deities within the Celtic pantheons that have been syncretised with Mars. Whilst writing my p

Hi there! I hope this isn't a bother-- I've recently felt called to Gaulish Polytheism, and seeing how there aren't a lot of surviving firsthand accounts about them, I wanted to ask you for your guidance and opinion. I've always felt very drawn to images of hawks and wolves, and a lot of the old Irish legends about werewolves who take more of a protector role (or at least, aren't totally hostile) have always called me as well. Is there a deity you know of that carries those associations?
Hey there,
Not a bother at all, I’ve been inactive from tumblr mostly. I’m active on the facebook groups and the Gaulchat discord helping guide the community and been swamped a bit after being elected as Uercobretos of Touta Galation.
There are three dewoi that you might be interested based on your description. The first would be Lugus, the many-skilled. He’s not quite known as a defender but as a skilled battle tactition. The reason I bring Him up is that He is associated with wolves. http://polytheist.com/segomaros/2015/07/13/lugus/
Then there is Camulos, who is the protector of the tribe. He is a brutal defender of the tribe, keeping our warriors strong. http://polytheist.com/segomaros/2015/07/27/camulus/
Finally, there is Taranis. Taranis is a different kind of defender, He maintains cosmic order, keeps the universe turning, and fights back against encroaching entropy. He destroys what is dead and stagnant in order to make room for new growth. As a Shared Personal Gnosis, He is often associated with hawks. http://polytheist.com/segomaros/2015/06/29/taranis/
Hope this answers your question! Feel free to reach out again, or come join us on the Gaulchat server.
All the best,

Camulus Buckland, with a catchphrase he doesn't use enough anymore
Some old and new gods, with Amaterasu (with a corset over her dress that somehow works), Camulus (only here for 3 eps but he’s still a fave, especially when he bounces off Jack) and the increasingly senile Lord Yu (and his First Prime Oshu, which again, I wish we’d seen more of)
