Merovingian Theory (as promised)
Back on this post, I promised to post my Merovingian theory for Resurrections. So, here we go.
In the trailer, we're shown this scene.
I'm fairly sure that this is none other than our old pal - The Merovingian. I'll admit, he's pretty unrecognizable, dressed like an homeless man and living like this...
Neo goes to him for help and is met by a bodyguard.
It's not new for the Merovingian to have rogue/exiled programs as bodyguards. Even at his lowest, the Merovingian is still protected.
As we all know, The Merovingian doesn't exactly take sides either way - human or machine - his only allegiance is only to himself. He's always had massive amounts of power - even having people go to him for favors in exchange for something, and stuff like that.
To quote The Oracle: What do men with power want? More power.
That's always been his objective. Power and control over everyone and everything. And he was pretty damn good at it. No one could beat him at his own game.
Until... The Analyst.
The Analyst also wants POWER and CONTROL. At the end of the day, he's not very different from The Merovingian. With one exception. While The Merovingian is happy keeping control of the Matrix as it is (as long as he has power), The Analyst wants to remake the Matrix in his own image - like a God.
And since The Analyst took over and began to control the Matrix, The Merovingian has fallen from grace, so to speak. He's down on his luck, lost his kingdom, his everything...
Maybe it was even The Analyst's sick plan to have The Merovingian - a once extremely powerful and feared entity inside the Matrix - live the rest of his days like a powerless homeless man.
Undoubtdly, The Merovingian hates The Analyst.
The Merovingian is a proud son of a bitch and he's vengeful as hell, so you already know he's not gonna let this slip.
So, when Neo (of all people) shows up at his doorstep and asks for help in taking down The Analyst, good ol' Merv is going to be game.
It's a win-win. They both get something out of this alliance.
By defeating The Analyst, Neo gets Trinity back and freedom for them both, and The Merovingian gets his power and status back.
