anyway this morning we did a crossfit open workout from 2017 (it was literally programmed for us on the training program we follow; i don’t usually choose to re-do open workouts out of the open):
17.5: 10 rounds for time of
9 thrusters @ 42.5/30 kg
35 double unders
back in 2017 i did it twice - the first time in 16:50 and then two days later in 14:46. i did a round every 90 seconds and it was really really hard.
today (3 and a half years later) i did it in 11:13! i started a new round every 70 seconds (so i had a 20 second buffer each round) for the first 7 rounds and then did the last 3 rounds without a break. i finished each round with about 20 seconds to rest, which felt like just enough time to take a breath and shake out my arms. i was super methodical the entire time, and ended up overtaking one of the other guys (beat all the guys, actually. no biggie). i’m pretty proud that i’m 3.5 minutes faster than my 2017 self! if i were to do it again i’d try to do a round every 1:05, maybe.
it’s cool to see progress, and it’s cool that my secret power (being extremely methodical) works for open workouts that i feel slightly scared of.
