“BURIED IN SNOW, a light station wagon stands abandoned in the wake of the blizzard on No. 11 highway, near Bradford. Hundreds of vehicles, stalled for days, still wait vainly for snowplows to set them free.
HOW THIS HAPPENED wll remain a mystery until the unknown motorist returns to claim his wrecked machine. Many motorists, leaving their cars in the snowdrifts, have travelled on by train. But even some trains are stalled.
DRIVING SNOW swirls across the windswept highway as truck crews attempt to shovel a pathway for a line of vehicles north of Bradford. Caravans, combining the strength and ingenuity of a number of drivers, are one answer to the problem of getting through.
OF ALL THINGS the cameraman expected to encounter in the midst of the winter’s worst blizzard, a pleasure boat was among the last. This one is called ‘Hellzapoppin.’ and it accused plenty of troubles as its owners tried to bring it from Bala to Toronto.” - from the Toronto Star. March 19, 1941. Page 10.
