"It's simply a matter of applying who you already are to what you now face."
I've never been more mentally and physically prepared for anything in my life than I was going into this past weekend.
365 days worth of work. The tears and the blood; the early mornings, the late nights; the numerous times I had to answer my "WHY"; the countless times I wrote "tennis stadium" in chalk on the floor in front of me.
365 nights of laying in my bed, staring at my name placard from 2013 Regionals, visualizing what I wanted out of this one weekend. 365 nights I did that for. I wish I was joking.
And time, after time, after time, as I slid down that rope, ... I can't even finish this sentence.
I've climbed a thousand legless rope climbs. A thousand. I'd completed that workout from start to finish on the weekend before I left, in a fast and respectable time to what the girls beside me posted on Saturday. I wish I had an answer. I wish I had something better than, "I had no idea what was happening." I don't think the live feed cameras caught the desperation in my eyes as I looked out to the crowd beyond my rope.
So what now do I face?
Finding that self-worth that's not reflective of the leaderboard. This is one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, I won't lie.
And a hell of a lot of work. Somebody said to me on Sunday before I left, "Stay hungry." Don't worry. Nobody wants this more than me. You can't teach desire.
