Unbreakable Athletes
What is it that makes us an athlete, and when does one become an athlete. After the first time we walk into a gym, is it after our very first competition, after the first time you PR, or is it when you have a sub two minute Fran. There are many ways one can interpret becoming or being an athlete. It is extremely universal and people have different thoughts of what an athlete is. It could be the single mom who comes in three times a week, just looking to better her life, or the Regional Athlete who is training for the Games, maybe even the person who is looking to just get in better shape. I believe its something extremely different from all these things, I believe one becomes an Athlete once they have realized that the easy way will never be sufficient. That they must push their own body to its limits and break any genetic barriers or any limitations anyone has ever set on them. I think that once we embrace the idea that the only way we will get the results we want, and the results our bodies deserve to reach that optimum level of life is once we understand that we must push our mental capacities and our physical capacities to that point its never been to. To push through that point and become the best person we can be. The thing about the Crossfit gym, is that although to the outside its all about physical improvements we actually go deeper than that, we actually improve our mental attitudes. Once that is established and once you understand that you will be able to become the best you that can be and that is when you are an athlete, moreover a Crossfit Athlete is not determined by their fitness level it is determined by how much drive they have to achieve that new level.
The moment they understand that there are no limits in what they can do physically, and that alone will carry over the other aspects of their lives. It will pool into their careers, help them become more confident as an individual and overall increase the quality of life. We will not quit when it is hard, and we wont quit if it looks unreachable. We fight through the pain and fight off the doubt in our brains, we overcome any obstacle that we might have and beat that obstacle to death. We don't want the easy way, we want to get through that pain. We put in the work and we want to push past our breaking points.
I believe strongly in this movement of Crossfit, and I believe highly in the goals and principles it has. Whether your goal is to podium at the Crossfit games, or your goal is to be able to live everyday life without feeling tired, there are no difference in the mentality we have. We are Crossfitters and we strive to be the best person we can be. We will always push through and we will break all limitations that we have ever had.
Crossfit betters people lives, because it is a place where people want to come in the next day, who wait for the WOD to be posted, and just want to be there again the next day. Who will put in the skill work towards getting better form on their Olympic lifts and gymnastic movements. Who will do mobility everyday of their lives just to be able to move better and get better. I am a Crossfit athlete because I have decided that easy isn't good enough, that I want to work as hard I can. I want to do things my body shouldn't be doing, I want to compete and I want to inspire other to push past their goals. To become the best them they can be. I want to embrace the spirit and I want to remain as humble as I can be, just like the Athletes at the games are. The fact that they compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and if they don't win they just leave with the thought "This year I will push myself to become even better than I was the last." They are not angry at their performance and they just strive to come back even better than ever. They want to become the best them they can be. I love people breaking boundaries, I love people hitting Prs, I love seeing people becoming the best them they can be. I wont change the fact that I can help people do this ever, even if I go bankrupt doing it, I will continue to help people reach the best them they can be. I love being a Crossfit Coach, and I love being a Crossfit Athlete, and I love helping people breaking any and all limits ever set on themselves by others or by them. We will not be broken, and we will mend our bodies until they are the strongest bodies we can have. Crossfit is a registered trademark of Crossfit, Inc.
