The way that this alledged beef between Ethel and Lana is rolling out between people is just so disappointing, and it's why I hate the internet. Now, I've tried to find the "fat shaming pics" that Ethel alledgedly posted about Lana and all that stuff, but I couldn't really find a thing, so I can't speak much about that tho. The way she reacted to the comparisons were easy to find, and from what I've seen and if I'm being honest....can I really blame her? Being compared with someone when you're trying so hard to find a solid identity can be kind of frustrating, especially when they are in a WHOOLE DIFFERENT FIELD. This ended up turning into a whole comparison battle, and I JUST DON'T GET IT. How can you even compare them both???? They share a couple similarities, for sure, like the slow burn songs, the sad but beautiful lyrics, they both try to act like "non-celebrity-celebrities" but that ends there. Lana is all about the sad girl glamour, the Sylvia Plath lyricism style, the red lipstick, the melancholic hollywood, the pearl necklace and all of that stuff... Ethel is about the southern gothic, the harsh realities of the south, the religious and intergenerational trauma, the grotesque beauty of sex, the wooden crosses but also the huge power lines, decaying churches.... Obviously, I don't know the pure truth behind this beef, but it makes me sad how people always turn this shit into "Oh Lana is a way better artist than Ethel" "Ethel Cain could write Ultraviolence, but Lana could never write something like Perverts" " Who is this flop?" JUST SHUT UP, PLEASE, I CAN'T TAKE THINGS LIKE THIS ANYMORE, IT'S ROTTING MY BRAINCELLS FOR GOD'S SAKE
