same about my countryman John Paul II tbh :-) he’s admired and literally worshipped but he would protect pedophiles in church through his whole term, he had never done anything about the problem of pedophiles in catholic church.

mostly is for personal reasons but mostly because I think he’s a horrible person. he’s pretty much a racist (the rising sun tattoo discourse, look it up if you don’t know what it is) and just his thoughts on death and stuff makes me really uncomfortable
