Caiméilia faltered. The thought is terrible, so close to the Dragon’s heart. She’d curse her weakness, but she has mordrems to deal with first. Friends to save. And a Dragon’s head to take.
And soldiers in front of her, calling her sister. She approach them, in her best Commander walk. Her mind sense the excited expectation of the Dragon. She close on the archer leading them.
He doesn’t expect the dagger to his neck. The other two don’t expect the vines that tear them appart. Caim darts through the shadows and slash through the breacher, once, twice. Breath in. Look around for any trace of Marjory and Canach.
“WHY WON’T YOU SERVE ME?! I’D GIVE YOU THE REST YOU CRAVE FOR AND YOUR …”
The roar hurts, pounding in her head tearing it apart. She doesn’t understand it’s words only it’s anger. But it doesn’t matter, the answer stay the same.
“I am the hunter and you are just another prey.”
It sulks back, in the background of her mind, not leaving her alone, never leaving her alone. Nevertheless, she need to find back Marjory and Canach. Forward it is.
“Commander! Thank the gods! You disappeared during the last fight. We feared the worst.”
Marjory call her the moment she spots her. Canach seem to curse under his breath. His shield stay in front of him, his sword pointed at her. Caiméilia stops at reasonable distance, hands raised.
“As much as killing each other sounds like fun Canach, there’s a Dragon I’d like to tear apart first.
Her voice is full of dry sarcasm but mostly it sounds tired. Unsurprisingly so. They didn’t have much time to sleep. But the sword stay pointed at her. Caiméilia give the decision a tiny nods. Better be careful, especially when she so clearly got separated from them. Plus, it helps her determining that Canach probably isn’t under Mordremoth’s paws yet. She can’t help but admire him for how long he can hold under that pressure, without the protection of the Dream.
“Canach?”
“It was too quiet”
Marjory is frowing at him, before her gaze settle back on Caiméilia. She can’t really help the lightness in her tone when she answer.
“Quiet? I run into quite a bit of trouble out there. Didn’t hear?”
“Out there? Or in there?, he says slowly.
“Both. Glad to see you still have your head on your shoulders.”
Finally, the sword lowers. She is still careful in her approach, her hands now ready to reach for her bow.
“Getting harder to keep it there, I know”
It’s good to look into the eyes of someone that understands how relentlessly the Dragon claw at their minds, turning and turning for any kind of opening. And to know that should they fail to resist, the other will kill them. Her hands settle back. From the corner of her eyes, she notice Marjory dropping her combat stance.
“Was that some sort of sylvari thing? I didn't understand a word.“
That makes Canach snorts. Caiméilia can feel a smile tugging at her lips, despite her tiredness, despite the cold that pulse in her. Of course she’s lying, the brillant human detective. Probably doesn’t trust neither Canach nor Caim fully at the moment. That’s why Caim choose her to come along after all.
No último sábado, no clássico contra o Chicago, somou DOS POROTITOS MÁS pra conta.
Confira os gols do Superclasico del Ascenso:
