to say jaehyun was furious was an understatement. what was worst was that he was both furious and hurt. it had been two days since yena’s confession, two days of realizations and the feeling of betrayal and the not being able to sleep because of the constant memories of times destroyed with lies. a tiny part of himself told him he was being a hypocrite, he also had his own share of secrets after all but he did not listen to it and instead continued to sulk in his apartment.
once the anger dissipated, he entertained the idea of calling yena, of asking demanding her to meet him so they could talk about the stunt she had pulled. but if he did that, it would also mean coming out clean to her and that’s what he couldn’t decide on. yena had said her powers were meant to defeat evil, but what did that mean in the end?
jaehyun threw himself onto his bed, eyeing the phone next to his head. if she called, if she even dropped to check on him, jaehyun was sure he wouldn’t be able to feign that her spell had worked. he was too worked up over the entire matter to even pretend this could be an easy way out to finally close the door between them. but that didn’t help him solve his dilemma just yet.
what was the kind of good yena was defending? did it have anything to do with angels and holy beings? jaehyun had his doubts, mainly because if this was the case, yena should have figured out by now that he was not just any mortal. still, even if that wasn’t what this was about, where did it leave them?
jaehyun didn’t want to defend the world, didn’t want to fight evil or goodness. he just wanted to stay out of it all, live his life, know how stuff worked, discover things… he thought all that could be possible with yena by his side once, but now he wasn’t so sure and it was destroying him.
he reached for the phone and sighed.
↳ yena: you have been awfully quiet, should i worry?
↳ yena: you are not planning to crash another date of mine, are you?
↳ yena: …do you want to have dinner tonight?
