One or two cookbooks should help with the holiday gift-giving
I know I am not alone when it comes to reading cookbooks the way one would read a novel.
The cookbooks that interest me tell a story about the recipes and the author or have a unique theme. This is the time of year when so many cookbooks are released, just in time for gift-giving season. Going through my ever-increasing collection, I picked some for you to consider as a gift for the cooks on your list. I am sure you will find one or two for the cook in you, too. So I keep forgetting to take pictures of the things I have my campers make, but here's the recipe for a Bird's Nest!
Ingredients:
1 c chocolate chips
2-3 c rice krispies cereal
jelly beans
14 cupcake wrappers
Procedure:
1. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. (Or, I mean, if you have access to a double boiler, melt them that way).
2. Stir Rice Krispies into chocolate chips
3. But a glob of the mixture into each cupcake wrapper
4. Add 4 jelly bellies/jelly beans to each "nest" as eggs.
5. Eat and enjoy! They will harden eventually, but you can feel free to eat them while they are still gooey.
