“I mean I’m not even sure why I’m here.” Candy paused for a moment and looked at him.“You do understand that I’m more then a little confused. I thought you hated me and all.” Her body language was a bit tense as she stayed back away from the person in front of her.

All Charley had to do was walk in there and say two simple words. I’m sorry. All  he had to do and he was fine for whole  ‘nother year but damned if it wasn’t a li- -ttle nerve wracking when there was a  hole where his fucking rib used to be. T- -wo words. That was it. Charley walked  into that bar and sure enough there’s t- -hat one armed, one eye scrawny little f- -eller nursing a drink. Clearly a man of  routine.

He took a seat a couple stools down set- -tting his gift next to him and looking at h- -is hands for a moment before trying to  speak:

   “Hey man, look, I-”

Fuck. This was supposed to be easy.

Charley reached down and snagged a bag  of Brite Crawlers Sour Gummy Worms (if  you were going to apologize to an eldrich  horror you brought candy, a whole fuck’n b- -asket). He slid them down the bar and tried again:

   “I’m sorry I hit you.”
