hey! i loved your “no freedom for the birds” poem - do you think you’d ever write more atla poetry? if not, what’s a project you’re excited about?

Aww Candy. I’m glad you liked the poem, and thanks for the ask! For the last few weeks, I’ve been working on a project I’m really excited about.

It’s a story about Katara and Sokka’s first month back at the Southern Water Tribe after the war, told from Katara’s POV. The siblings grapple with the questions: What is the role of a warrior during times of peace? Can you go back to being a kid years after the world forced you to grow up too fast?

There will be worldbuilding, sibling bonding, a little bit of Kataang, and some poetry (sort of). I think it will end up being between 10,000 and 15,000 words, and my goal is to post it in the next couple weeks. My working title is The Interim.
