Because he is an absolute ass but also absolutely loyal and devoted which means that as soon as someone threatens his dad or Scott (or Derek, speaking sterek-wise) he’d set himself on fire to save them. Also, no werewolf healing, so yeah…
there are two options here, regarding Derek tho. We can go into the extreme sadness mode with Derek being left all alone again because he’s been there after Laura died and… I am so not falling into that trap, I see right through u, Meeya.
So, yeah, the “original” pack dies before Derek BUT there’s Scott’s kids and grandkids, and Liam’s and Malia’s and maybe Cora’s and Isaac’s too. Lydia’s? I don’t know but at least one of them would decide to have kids and they’d all be one big happy pack, years after the horror of what their lives were back in high school. And did I mention Derek would have at least two pets? See? Outliving the “original” pack but totally not alone. AND also: Derek being happy and safe and not wanting and waiting to die like he wanted after heKate killed his pack, like he did after Laura’s death but living, still, carrying on and missing them but without the immense pain ‘cause he knows they all will be waiting for him when he joins them.
