It would appear that I woke up in a cold sweat and wrote this. I’m not sure how I’m going to include this in a written work but I am now determined to.

The lovely Haruka Ayase as Ichi (2008), a goze (blind woman) who searches Japan for the man who mentored her, the original Zatoichi.

Ichi was one of several films that were released after the success of Takeshi Kitano's The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi in 2003.

Zatoichi's cane sword (shikomizue), with the hilt signed by the man himself - Shintaro Katsu - on display at the museum at Toei Kyoto Studio Park.

If you travel to Japan, and Kyoto is on your itinerary, then you owe it to yourself to visit this combination theme park and working TV/film studio. It's just as ten minute train ride from Kyoto Station.
