Cangji from Nan Chan for @unforth 🖤
This digital concept art is heavily inspired from Chinese novel Nan Chan by Tang Jiuqing. The novel is about soulmates Dragon and God passing through eight sufferings of the world together. This piece conveys the emotions of pain and seperation God went through in that moment when Dragon was about to die. I tried to stick to the color Azure for Dragon as mentioned in the novel and chose the color palette according to it.
did Jinglin somehow end up being the one to go north, and Cangji is the reincarnation of the Dragon Emperor?
Poor little carp, you’re going to have to start using the word “devour” in less literal way soon
Lol the banter is getting better

I see several tropes being rolled into one with Jinglin and Cangji lol – daddy/papa; gege/didi; and now teacher-student
is the inverted scale why Jinglin was raising the carp, or why the carp ended up with him in the first place?
