OOC: I so completely lied. It's almost been a year and I didn't continue this shit.

It just made me feel better to say it when I knew it wasn't going to happen. I'm such a dick.

It's his 3rd anni in 9 more days on the 15th.

I might as well tell you what I was planning since it will most likely never happen. -------

Joey lost all memory of "Cannibal" Sam. Sam was relieved and saw it as a second chance. Which it was. But he saw it in a different way. Instead of trying to correct his ways he instead tried to repeat history in a better way.

By feeding Joey Who meat little pieces at a time to see his reaction, to see how he felt, see if he liked it or not. But every time Joey ate a piece of 'bad' meat he would regain lost memory.

Joey thought he was just remembering a nightmare but after so many times he remembers everything. He isn't Paranoid!Joey though. He had his mind, but he's disgusted, scared, and fearful of what Sam has done.

He doesn't know what to do. This isn't right. And he knew there was no way he would persuade Sam otherwise. So after thinking about all of his options he makes a decision. "That the fans were sorta suppose to make."

Which was either "Kill Sam." or "Contact the WhoPolice of Sam's actions."

Either, Sam would die in Joey's arms, or Joey would watch Sam leave to WhoPrison where he would be executed. Either way he would die.

So, Cannibal Sam ends. Joey is free. But he feels empty. So very empty. Like he made the wrong choice. He just can't live without Sam. He can't live without his stupid smile or his idiot actions. So he ends his life.

And that was going to be the end of this blog. ---

But I don't think I will ever be able to play this out. Maybe some day I will when inspiration hits and I'm in a better place. But I can't with my condition right now.

Thank you so much for every one of you who enjoyed Samibal. You guys made this blog one of the best things in my life. I'll never forget this. Thank you.

“Is he or is he not telling the truth, Berry?” Quinn glared at her superior from her seat in the discussion room. “Did you manipulate his answers in any way, shape or form?”

Mercedes shook her head. They wouldn’t be able to keep him much longer on an empty confession and they certainly couldn’t keep him for something they had no evidence against. “Well, that cannibal is going to walk free the moment Sylvester hears about this. You better pray the boys come back with some sort of information, Berry. You just better pray.” She said, her voice low. “Now let’s look over his file again. There must be something we missed.”

The three women worked for the better part of a day, pouring over files and books. They didn’t find anything and none could say they had expected the opposite. If anything, Mercedes was relieved to see she had been thorough. Still, she stressed, hoping some information would magically show itself and help her make sense of everything.

“Why does he keep talking about your dreams, Mercy?” asked Quinn, looking up from her papers. “It seems important to him. The spider, the girl… what is it?”

With a sight, Mercedes settled back into her chair. “It’s just a dream I had for a long time. The spider always killed me and I always came back undead. It terrified me. It still terrifies me.”

“But what does it mean?” she pressed.

“I don’t know. I keep trying to find out but I – I fail. I just don’t know what he expects to come out of this dream therapy. Maybe Sam-” Mercedes was interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing to which she eagerly answered. “Jones. Yes… No, I wasn’t aware. The name please? James Bernard Funeral home, got it. Thanks, Mike.”

“What did he say?” asked Rachel.

“Later. I have to talk to Sam. But you messed up, Berry. You gave him exactly what he wants.”

 “Why are you here?” yelled Mercedes, the moment she set foot in his cell. “What do you want from me?”

“Settle down,” Sam smiled lazily, looking her over. “You look fantastic, Jones. Good enough to eat. Now, how can I help you, my fiery chocolate diva?”

“You can tell me the truth. I know about the will. I know about the funeral home. But now I want to know why.” Her jaw clenched when his smile faded and was replaced with a frown. Mercedes seated herself in front of him. “It’s time.”

“I’m very well aware, thank you.” He snapped, eyes cooling. “I expected you to take a little longer but I suppose this will do. I used to go to a group therapy session. I started going after my mom died. The group was for people around my age. I met a lot of interesting folk there. I made friends. You see we all had something in common. Cannibalism. Jeremiah was actually the one who introduced me to it, prior to my courses. He’d travelled the world and had a taste of human flesh in some jungle. The details are murky. Long story short, we made a deal.”

“What kind of deal?” asked Mercedes.

“It is illegal to buy or sell body parts in America, but we thought we could bypass that law. You see, in our wills we gave each other what we wanted. I wanted Jeremiah’s brain because he was intelligent, and I wanted Bradley’s heart because his was bigger than mine. In return, Jeremiah wanted my heart and Brad, my brain. You see this way, I was neither buying nor selling their body parts. I was merely expressing the wishes they had clearly explained in their will. The funeral home sorted out those situations. Brian died a year after we made our pact. Shot in the head during a convenience store robbery, can you believe that?” Sam chuckled darkly. “Jeremiah died a year ago in a car accident.”

“And the others,” asked Mercedes, her voice hoarse. “The other people you made a deal with?”

 “There were no other people, Mercy. I’m a man before everything else, human. It’s normal to exaggerate some information in hopes of impressing a love interest. But I only ever ate a single heart and a single brain. And never have I murdered a person. You’d be surprised of the lies bartenders are willing to tell for some extra cash. I’m an illusionist, Mercedes. Not everything is what it seems to be.” He smiled suddenly, and charmingly so. Leaning forward, he extended a hand to brush it over her own, “The ball is in your court now, Jones. Why don’t you tell me about the Spider?”

“Mercedes, I just think you should consider the possibility that he may be the one. The great guy you’ve been waiting for.” Quinn guided Mercedes through the halls to the oval room where the rest of the team was assembled for a meeting.

“He doesn’t like Michael Jackson, Quinn. He’s better set for Berry.”

“You really aren’t going to date him? Even once, just to see?”

“Nice to see you’ve graced us with your presence.” Rachel gestured for them to sit, and took her own seat sighing in an exaggerated manner. “The Evans case. We aren’t getting anywhere.”

“I wouldn’t say that.” Said Mike from beside her. “We have him in custody, we have a confession and he’s starting to trust Jones-“

“But he doesn’t yet, does he?” asked Rachel sharply. “If he did, we would have the location of the bones. Perhaps we made a mistake-“

“There was no mistake.” This time it was Quinn who spoke. Quietly, deliberately. “Jones is one of the best in her field. That aside, he asked for her specifically. He’s playing by his rules, Berry. If we want to win, we have to play right. And to play right, we have to let Jones do her job. We have to let her play his way.”

Rachel clenched her jaw tightly, and nodded. “Of course you’re right.”

On her left side, Santana Lopez grinned widely and stretched. “I have no idea how you do it, Fabray. Shutting the Berry up like that. What do you have for us, Jones? What can you tell us about our cannibal?”

Finally, Mercedes allowed herself a smile. “Most likely his mother wasn’t present in his life. She would have been present physically but emotionally unattainable. He would have sought her approval by attempting to live up to her expectations and when that failed-”

“Why do you say that?” interrupted Rachel. “His mother could have been a positive and loving role model.”

“Unlikely.” Used to Rachel’s interruptions, Mercedes went on smoothly. “Let’s take his alleged love for me into consideration. He went into my home, studied my diary long enough to memorize the page a precise phrase was written on. We’ve spoken on many occasions and every time, he surprises me with the knowledge of things my closest friends don’t have.” Beside her, Quinn fisted her hands and frowned. “Now, though he had been in a position to make contact with me Sam did not make a move to do so until he had been arrested and until he had all the information he needed.”

“I don’t understand, what does that have to do with anything?” asked Rachel.

“Everything.” Santana nodded and leaned forward. “It’s about comfort. Sam creates comfort for people so they have no choice but to like him. He knows all your secrets, all your fears. He makes you feel like he understands you.”

“Exactly.” Mercedes nodded. “ He has no confidence in his abilities to attract another person naturally. Which leads me back to his mother. She’s the only parent he has, emotionally unavailable. He was expelled from three schools by the age of twelve, from the files, he was very violent. Dangerous. Still, she refuses to acknowledge his cry for attention. Until, and here’s the big catch... I had Artie pull his mother’s files. She was in a car accident when he was fifteen. It left her paralyzed from the neck down. She had regular doctor appointments, therapy sessions... Sam took her to every one of them.”

“What does-“

“If you’d let her finish...” growled Quinn.

“A year after her accident, both her doctor and her therapist’s offices were broken into. Files were stolen, amongst them, Mary Evans’.” Pleased to have finally caught their attention, she continued. “They were returned a week later and Mary Evans cancelled all future appointments.”

“I spoke to the therapist.” Said Mike. “Apparently, Mary was convinced she no longer needed them. Her son understood, he was all she needed.”

“Finally the approval he craved.” Rachel mused.

“He read her files like he read your diary. Studied her, found ways to make her feel comfortable.” Santana nodded slowly. “Like we said, he’s smart. He used her vulnerability to his advantage. Gave her a shoulder to cry on, and he knew exactly what to do to make her feel like she wasn’t alone. How can you ignore someone who understands you?”

“You can’t.” Agreed Quinn. “And he did, or is trying to do the same thing with Mercedes.”

“And that’s probably how he lured his victims. He would have stalked them for a while, long enough to get a good understanding of their persona.” Rachel settled back into her chair. “That’s not getting us closer to finding bones though.”

“Yes, it is. We aren’t looking for bones, we’re looking for bodies.  Most likely male. 20 to 27 years olds missing in the last five years. There are three distinct types of cannibalism; pleasure cannibalism, survival cannibalism and cultural cannibalism. We’ve been looking at pleasure cannibalism when we should have looked at cultural cannibalism.”

“He’s an American.” Said Rachel. “Our culture doesn’t tolerate cannibalism.”

“Being an American has nothing to do with his beliefs.” Said Quinn. “He took Sociology courses at a local college, he could have found out about these different belief systems there. He grew up to believe the only way he could get affection was to play some type of all-knowing God, it’s safe to say he could have strayed away from all-American traditional beliefs.”

“But why does he eat people? It makes no sense!”

“Berry, are you even listening?” asked Santana, rolling her eyes. “The boy hates himself, he thinks he can’t be loved unless he makes other people feel like they’re talking to God or a guardian angel. Or something. He goes to college, hears about tribes that eat other people to gain something-“

“Like what?! What could he possibly gain?”

“Depends on what he eats. Some African tribes believe that if you ate the brain of a dead tribesman known for his intelligence, you would grow more intelligent. He doesn’t just pick anyone. Sam picks people he wants to be like. People he admires. It’s a ritual.”

“Leading up to what?” asked Mike.

“Mercedes.” Said Quinn softly. “Leading up to Mercedes.”

“I don’t think I follow.” Mercedes frowned.

“ Think about it. He went to her house and studied her, led us to himself on purpose to he could speak to her without jeopardizing her job, refuses to speak to anyone but her, and has even, on the record, claimed to love her.” For the first time in their four years of working together, Quinn dropped her professional facade and reached for Mercedes’ hand. “He’s been building himself for her. Making himself into the perfect man.”

“If it’s Mercedes he wants we can’t let her-“

“Yes, we can.” Rachel interrupted Mike. “This is a game. Just like Fabray said. A psychological one. He wants her to play so she’ll play. And she’ll win. I want bodies, Jones. I want more than a lousy confession.”
