Even though Kum Week will be over soon, we will still be accepting submissions. It doesn't matter if it's a week or two after this Saturday. We organized Kum Week to fill our tag with graphics/mixes/fanart/fics of our precious ship rather than sand and people at the beach. We want to thank you all for being here with us, it was a pleasure having you all follow this since day one. The admins are proud of you canoe.
I would also like to add this is a community for reblogging and celebrating a ship. We do not condone the act of reblogging content just to hate on it. I wouldn't go into a particular week tag and reblog their hard work only to vomit on it. So I thank everyone who has worked hard on Kum week so far and has enjoyed the hard work everyone put into it.
Summary: Finn and Rachel conspire to set their friends up on a date
AN: I do not own Glee, etc., etc.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Anyway, Finn was watching Kurt and Sam one day sitting next to each other on the couch, watching a movie yet again. It seemed to be a weekend ritual for the two of them, to get together, sit uncomfortably close to one another, and yet not even notice the chemistry practically screaming at them.
Going into the kitchen, Finn saw Rachel getting another round of drinks to go with their popcorn.
“Hey Rachel?”
“Hi Finn, are you here to help me?” She asked with a bright smile.
“No- I mean, yes. I mean, I wanted to ask you something?”
Brushing off her hands, Rachel looked at him curiously. “What about?”
“Kurt and Sam. Do you think they...like each other?”
Gasping, Rachel grabbed her boyfriend’s hands and squealed. “You noticed too?!”
“Shh.” Finn quickly hushed her, not wanting his friends to hear them and come to see what they were talking about. He had an idea and he didn’t want it to get ruined. “I was thinking we should set them up on a date.”
“Like a blind date?” Rachel added, earning a nod from Finn. “Oh, you are a genius.” Rachel kissed him before grabbing the drinks. “We’ll plan this all out tomorrow, although I have so many ideas already.”
Finn smiled, although he was mostly focused on the kiss, and he made a mental note to get more great ideas if it meant more kisses.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The next day, Finn was tasked with getting Sam to agree to go on a blind date. He figured his friend would be willing, after all, he hadn’t gone out with anyone in a while. Finn approached Sam after their workout at the gym. Sam was patting himself down with a towel he had just grabbed from his gym bag.
“Hey man, good workout?” Finn asked, grinning as he sat down.
“Yeah. You didn’t look too bad yourself running on the treadmill.” Sam teased, most likely referring to Finn’s legs slipping a few times. Rolling his eyes, Finn just smirked as he watched Sam take a long sip from his water bottle.
“So, dude, you got any plans Friday night?”
Shaking his head, Sam capped his water bottle and set it to the side. “No, why?”
“There’s this really awesome guy I know and I think you should go out with him.”
Raising an eyebrow, Sam smirked and shook his head. “What? Are you setting me up on a date, dude?”
“Kind of.” Finn grinned.
“What’s his name?”
“Not telling.” Finn said, trying not to grin too much. Sam was looking a little perplexed before shaking his head.
“Dude, are you setting me up on a blind date? Why?”
Finn shrugged his shoulders, trying to figure out the best words to use. “Well, it’s been awhile since your last relationship and I thought this would be a good way for you to get out there, back into the dating pool.” Okay, that was a total lie, but it was something to get his friend to that restaurant Rachel had already made reservations for.
Sam seemed to be thinking about what Finn said and he shrugged. “I don’t know, the last guy I dated turned out to be pretty...dull.”
Finn chuckled and shook his head. “Trust me, this guy is not dull.” He thought of his brother and how Sam always found him to be someone cool to hang out with.
Sighing to himself, Sam looked away, appearing to be thinking on Finn’s offer. Finally, he looked at his friend. “Fine, I’ll go, but if this goes bad, I’m holding it against you for the rest of your childrens’ lives.”
Finn laughed nervously before nodding his head. “Awesome! Don’t worry, man, you’ll have a great time.”
Sam nodded, looking a little skeptical, but at least he was into it. “So tell me about this guy. How do you know him?”
“Oh, we’ve known each other for ages. He’s funny, smart, and has an awesome sense of style.”
“What made you think to set me up with him?”
Finn smiled secretively and just shrugged his shoulders. “He just seems like your type of guy.”
Sam seemed to accept that response and Finn decided to table the discussion for now, so he wouldn’t end up telling Sam who his mystery date was. For now, he wondered how Rachel was doing getting Kurt to agree to go on a date.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
So far, Rachel was having no luck. Kurt was stubborn and kept saying he just wasn’t ready to go on a date. The last time he was in a relationship had ended badly and Kurt wasn’t even sure he wanted to date anyone else. It wasn’t that he still had feelings for his ex, because those feelings had gone away right after his ex had cheated on him. Even after all this time, it was hard for Kurt to trust anyone.
“Come on, Kurt, I know you’re really going to like this guy. He’s funny, tells awkwardly cute jokes, and he has a body to die for!”
Kurt scoffed and shook his head. “Rachel, I just don’t know. What if it doesn’t work out? I’m not sure I could go through another disappointment again.”
Rachel walked over to Kurt and took his hands, smiling reassuringly. “Trust me, Kurt, I have a really good feeling about this one. You’ll love him. Just give it a chance, okay? It’s been two years.”
Kurt thought for a moment and Rachel was almost positive that he was about to turn her down again. However, his lips slowly turned upward and he shrugged his shoulders. “Okay, why not? It’s just one date, right?”
“Right! Oh, thank you, Kurt!” Rachel squealed as she hugged him, happy that her mission had been accomplished.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Friday night saw Finn and Rachel hiding in the back of the restaurant as they waited for their friends to come into view. They had already told Kurt and Sam to look out for a guy with a red flower on his lapel. So they both had arrived and hadn’t noticed each other yet. Rachel was getting impatient and close to blowing their cover when Sam looked towards Kurt and smiled, walking over to him. Rachel had to bite her lip to keep from shrieking and Finn was holding his breath, waiting for something to happen.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Kurt?” Sam asked, a big smile on his face as he approached his friend.
“Hey, Sam!” Kurt smiled and hugged him. “What are you doing here?”
“Oh, Finn set me up on this blind date, if you can believe it.”
Kurt laughed and couldn’t help but smirk. “What a coincidence! Rachel did the same thing to me.”
“Whoa, no way! Awesome.” Sam looked around, noticing no one else in the room with a red flower on their lapel, except for Kurt that is. “Do you know who he is?”
Kurt turned his gaze from Sam in order to look around the room, as if searching for someone. “No, I don’t. I only know he’s wearing a red flower.”
Sam frowned and looked at Kurt, finally looking at him after a moment. “Red flower?”
Nodding his head, Kurt turned to look at Sam, only to find his gaze falling onto his jacket where the flower was. “Oh...”
Sam was quiet for a moment before chuckling. “Oh...um...wow. I think Finchel played matchmaker.”
Kurt chuckled and shook his head. “Those two.” He sighed softly before looking up at Sam. “I’m sorry, I...you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.”
“No, I do! I...I want to go on a date with you,” Sam admitted.
Kurt blushed and glanced at Sam after ducking his head down. “Really? You want to go on a date with me?”
Sam nodded his head, reaching out to squeeze Kurt’s hand. “Only if you want to go on one with me. But even if you didn’t, I’d still try to convince you.”
Kurt smiled at that and nodded slowly, making a mental note to thank Rachel and Finn for this later. For right now, he was busy plotting what else to do with Sam on this blind date. He had a feeling it wouldn’t be their last.
Summary: For Kum Week. Sam is a teen superhero who saves Kurt one night from a mugging.
AN: I do not own Glee. Also this story was written at 11 pm so forgive any errors please.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
At school, Sam kept up his dorky persona. The boy next door who told impressions and was way into his comic books. If that’s the way people saw him, then he didn’t care. The only person who mattered was Kurt, his best friend.
They had been friends for as long as Sam could remember. Since they were babies, Kurt and Sam had done everything together. Why Sam had never told Kurt about his powers was not that simple. Kurt thought comic books were silly, even if he willingly sat beside Sam and let him list off every single fact he knew about any particular comic book. They were best friends and it seemed as though Kurt didn’t mind talking about them or listening to Sam talk about them.
No, Sam just didn’t know how to explain what had happened to him. It still confused him how he had powers similar to Spider Man, which made him be able to get to and from places as quickly as possible. Kurt would never talk to him again if he knew.
At least, that’s what Sam thought. One night, he was under his persona, wearing a skin tight yellow and brown body suit with an insignia, BC, on the front, when he heard a cry for help. The voice sounded familiar and Sam used his heightened sense of hearing to get a reading on where the sound was coming from. Once he realized it was coming from an alley near the theater, Sam raced to the ara just in time to see a man holding Kurt at knife point.
Sam’s heart jumped in his throat. His best friend was in danger and needed help! Feeling a burning need to save the brunet boy who had done so much for him, Sam immediately took down the would be mugger, just as a police unit came up in their car. Sam passed the mugger off to them before checking on Kurt.
“Are you okay?” Sam asked, giving the boy a once over.
“I’m fine. Hey, I know you...you’re that superhero they’re always talking about.” Kurt said, a wide smile on his face.
Sam chuckled, trying to disguise his voice since he knew Kurt would recognize it. “That’s me! But really, are you okay? Do you need to get checked out?”
Kurt shook his head, just giving Sam a warm smile. “I’m okay. Just...thank you.”
Sam nodded and turned to leave when Kurt called his name, “What can I call you?”
Turning his ever so slightly, Sam stayed silent for a moment before replying, “Call me Chamo.” It was short for his full name, but if only one person could call him that, then it could be Kurt. He didn’t see the smile on Kurt’s face as he slipped away into the night.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The next day at school, Kurt was gushing over his rescue to his best friends, Rachel and Tina. The girls were eating up the fact that he was saved by an actual superhero, something girls only ever dreamed of. Sam was at the table too, just listening and not really saying much. He didn’t want to give anything away, obviously, since supposedly he had been home doing homework.
He was happy he had saved Kurt, he just wished he could have revealed who he was. But he was still worried about bringing Kurt into this world, a world where he was in constant danger, always doing things that a boy his age shouldn’t be doing. He should have been hanging out with friends, focusing on school, and dating a girl...or boy, in Sam’s case.
“He’s so dreamy,” Kurt sighed, making Sam perk up in interest. He definitely hadn’t been paying attention to this part of the conversation, and it was pretty clear he should have been. Kurt was smiling, a smile he had never seen before, and it made Sam sit up straighter in his seat.
“Your own personal super hero, Kurt, it’s so romantic.” Rachel said softly.
“If only you knew who he was.” Tina said.
Clearing his throat, Sam was only trying to get the taste of pudding to get out of the back of his throat, but then he noticed the girls and Kurt were staring at him. “Oh, uh...” Sam had to really think of something to say, because it was almost as if he had been caught red handed. For what, he didn’t know, he just had to think of something. “Do you know if you’ll bump into him again?” Sam finally settled for asking. At least, this had made it seem like he was part of the conversation and had been interested all along.
“I don’t know. He usually only appears when there’s...”
“Danger,” Rachel finished, shaking her head. “I’d rather you not be in danger anymore, Kurt. But maybe you’ll bump into him during a nice, peaceful evening.”
“I hope so. I just want to thank him again.”
Sam smiled, looking down so no one could see it. He wouldn’t be able to explain that one away.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
That night, Kurt was taking a walk near his house when he heard a rustling noise behind him. Turning his head, Kurt didn’t see anyone and he shrugged his shoulders. It was probably nothing. He continued on his walk when all of a sudden, a figure came popping out in front of him, causing him to jump.
“Oh!” Kurt raised his hands, immediately as though on the defense, until he saw a familiar figure with a familiar mask.
“It’s okay, I won’t hurt you, Kurt.” The masked man said and Kurt’s eyes widened.
“You know my name?” He asked hesitantly.
Nodding his head, the stranger came up to him, standing close to him and making Kurt shiver slightly. “I heard you wanted to thank me again.”
Kurt’s eyes widened, almost absolutely stunned. “How did you know?”
Shaking his head, the figure merely placed a hand on Kurt’s cheek. “I just know.”
Smiling, Kurt reached out to begin to pull the mask off. However, the person took his hands to stop him. “It’s okay. I just want to see your face.”
For a moment, all was quiet, as neither of them moved or even breathed. Finally, the masked man nodded his head and Kurt slowly removed the mask. Gasping, Kurt’s hands came to rest over his mouth, eyes wide as he took in the sight before him.
“Sam?”
Sam nodded his head, smiling weakly as he just looked at Kurt. “I...I can explain.”
“How? When? Why didn’t you tell me?” So many questions and yet, so little words could be formed.
“Accident in the chemistry lab about a year ago. I didn’t tell you because...I wanted to keep you safe. I knew you’d think it was dangerous what I was doing. All I wanted to do was help people. I never wanted you to get hurt.”
Kurt reached up and gently caressed Sam’s cheek, just taking him in. Sam was holding his breath once more.
“So all this time, you were my super hero?” Kurt asked, voice barely above a whisper.
Nodding his head, Sam licked his lips as he replied, “Yes. It was me.”
A gentle smile crossed his face and a moment later, Kurt was pressing his lips against Sam’s in a tender kiss. Smiling into the kiss, Sam wrapped his arms around Kurt, holding him close, protecting him from the world around them as their lips moved perfectly together.
He may have been BC to the world, but to Kurt Hummel, Sam Evans was his own personal hero.
Summary: Shooting Star happens, except Sam and Kurt are dating.

It was a text from Rachel and it said ‘Shots fired at McKinley.’ Kurt’s heart dropped and his eyes widened. A shooting? What? But how was that possible? Kurt quickly texted her back, asking her how she knew. She texted him back telling him she got a text from Tina, who had gone to her car to get some sheet music. Kurt’s stomach clenched and the first thing he thought was ‘Sam!’
He and Sam had been dating since the year before, when Kurt had broken things off with Blaine after finding out he was spending more time with Sebastian than him. It had hurt, but Sam had been there for him. And now his boyfriend was in danger and he wasn’t there to protect him.
Sinking down to the floor, all thoughts of lunch now far away from his mind, Kurt began texting Sam, hoping his boyfriend would text him back.
Baby, are you there? Text me, please, are you okay?
Sam, please be okay! Where are you?
For the longest time, Sam wasn’t answering and it sent so many thoughts racing through Kurt’s head. Endless I love yous, dates, kisses, and love making, moments they shared, little moments that all ran through his head, causing his heart to fill with such agony. Was his boyfriend okay?
After what felt like hours, but was probably only about fifteen minutes, he heard his phone beep and Kurt looked down.
I’m okay. I’m in the choir room. How did you know?
Kurt let out a relieved sob, which almost sounded like a chuckle as he texted Sam back. Tina texted Rachel. What’s going on?
We heard gunshots a while ago, but haven’t heard anything since. I’m so scared, Kurt.
You’re going to be okay, Sammy. Is everyone else alright?
Brittany’s in the bathroom, we don’t know if she’s okay. Where was Tina, do you know?
She’s outside the school, according to Rachel, she’s okay. Kurt...I don’t want to die.
Kurt teared up at this and he shook his head, wiping away the tears before quickly typing back. You’re not going to die, okay, Sam? We have plans.
New York adventures right?
Right.
Kurt, I love you so much.
Don’t say goodbye.
I’m not. I just need you to know since I fell asleep last night before I texted it to you.
Kurt closed his eyes, allowing himself a few quiet sobs before responding. I love you too, doofus.
For a few long moments, nothing was said until Kurt texted Sam again. What are you doing?
Artie had us film our last goodbyes if anything happened.
Sam, you’re not dying.
I know.
But did he really know?, Kurt thought to himself. What did you say?
I’m not telling you. Not if I make it out of this.
Okay. That’s fair. Where’s Blaine? Is he alright?
He’s next to me, he’s fine. Really quiet.
He must be real scared. Tell him I’m glad he’s okay?
I will, baby.
Baby, Sam’s pet name for him that Kurt never failed to make him smile. Somehow, in this dreadful situation where he didn’t know if his boyfriend would make it out, Sam still managed to put a smile on Kurt’s face.
Making a decision, Kurt got up from the floor, his muscles cringing slightly after being cramped for about half an hour, and walked over to his laptop. He got to work and soon, he had a flight to Ohio. His bank account would be hurting a bit, but that was why he had a job at Vogue.com.
He quickly got a bag together before leaving a message for Rachel and Santana. They would probably be annoyed with him for not getting flights for them, but honestly, Sam needed him and he had to get to Lima fast.
Kurt was at the airport and in the air in record time and within a few hours, he was in Lima.
Making his way to his house, Kurt saw his parents waiting by the television.
“They’re releasing the kids now, they said no one was hurt.” Burt said, hugging his terrified son, who had begun crying again.
“I love him so much, dad, I was so scared.” Now that he was in his dad’s arms, Kurt couldn’t keep the tears at bay.
“I know, son, I know.” Burt replied, just hugging Kurt tightly.
Within an hour, the door opened and a weary Sam walked through. He wasn’t paying attention to much until the gentle voice made him look up.
“Sam?”
“Kurt?” The blond’s eyes were wide and Kurt smiled, nodding his head as he immediately began walking towards his love.
“Oh my God.” Sam breathed out heavily as he was wrapped in Kurt’s arms. “You’re here.”
Kurt nodded his head, pressing a kiss to the side of Sam’s head. “Of course I’m here. And so are you.” He touched Sam’s face, fingers gently caressing his skin. “I’m so thankful you’re okay.”
Sam nodded his head, his eyes full of tears as he spoke. “I’m...I...”
Kurt knew Sam had to be feeling a lot so he gently shushed him. “Let’s go lay down for a while, okay?”
Sam nodded, but before they could move, Burt and Carole had come over to hug the boys. It was only then that they allowed Kurt to take Sam upstairs.
Immediately, Sam crawled onto the bed and Kurt kicked off his shoes before laying down beside him. He pulled Sam into his arms, caressing his hair as Sam tucked his head into the crook of his neck.
“I’m so tired...but I can’t sleep. I...I keep hearing it...”
Sam’s voice sounded so broken and it made Kurt’s heart ache. “Sh, it’s okay, baby, we don’t have to talk about it right now. We’re together and you’re safe. That’s all that matters.”
Nodding his head, Sam just burrowed deeper into Kurt’s body, and while Kurt was slightly uncomfortable if only because Sam was pressing against him so much, he didn’t care. After the day they had, he would be just fine if Sam never let go of him. Kurt didn’t believe in God, but it didn’t stop him from muttering ‘Thank you’ to whoever it was that made it possible for Sam to come home to him.
Mom, dad, I love you guys. Give Stacey and Stevie hugs for me and...Kurt, I love you so much. You’re my soulmate. Thank you for loving me.
Summary: Kurt calls a Phone Sex Line and the caller is definitely a surprise.
AN: I do not own Glee, yada yada yada
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
However, here he was, holding a sticky note with the alias of the operator who Kurt would be calling. Sighing softly to himself, Kurt tried to figure out how he had gotten himself into this mess. It had all started a few months earlier when his boyfriend, Blaine, cheated on him with a guy he had met over Facebook. It had absolutely crushed Kurt, who really did see them having a future together.
But now that future was no more and Kurt had basically done nothing but go to work and go home to lay on the couch with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s, with a soap opera on that he had taped earlier. He truly did live a sad life and no one, not even his best friend, Rachel, could get him out of this funk.
It was a week earlier when his friend and co-worker had suggested he try having phone sex to perk himself up. Kurt had laughed for a solid five minutes before realizing the guy was serious. Baffled, Kurt couldn’t even begin to think of how to comprehend the fact that his friend was suggesting this to him of all people.
There were really no words to describe the emotions and thoughts running through Kurt’s head. He had given an emphatic ‘No!’ and thought that was the end of the conversation. However, the idea was continually being put into his head. To go ahead and give it a try, it wasn’t like he’d be having real sex, even if he did want the real thing. It was completely anonymous and it wasn’t like he would actually have to worry about having sex with a nameless stranger.
The idea was tempting, he had to admit, but it took a lot of soul searching for Kurt to really think about things. Finally, he asked for the number and held onto it for three more days before making the call.
When the robotic voice came over the speaker, he almost ended the call. However, he had already put in his credit card information, so he figured he better keep going. Soon, he was put on the line with someone called ‘Stargazer’ and Kurt cleared his throat.
“Hello, how may I service you this evening?” The sultry voice spoke and Kurt almost froze.
“I...” Kurt started to speak but gulped. “I’ve never done this before.” He admitted with a blush.
“Ah, a first timer. What brought you here?” The beautiful voice asked, and Kurt felt like he should recognize the person speaking. It sounded so familiar, but he couldn’t place it.
“It’s silly.” Kurt said with a blush. “I’d rather not say.”
“That’s understandable. Now tell me how I can make you feel good.”
For a moment, Kurt was quiet, until he realized this poor guy was being paid by the minute and he should give him his money’s worth.
“I...I liked being called ‘Baby’ by my boyfriend in bed.”
Kurt wondered what the guy must look like behind the persona and he bit his lip. “What do you look like? What are you wearing?”
“Blond hair. Blue jeans. A white tank top and nothing else. Would you like me to call you baby?” He asked, his voice getting low.
Licking his lips, Kurt nodded until he remembered he was on the phone. “Yes.”
“How can I make you feel good, baby?” This comment nearly sent Kurt over the edge and he had to take a breath.
He thought for a good, long minute, until he decided to just go with it. It wasn’t hurting anyone to do something like this, especially when the voice on the other end sounded so sexy. “Touch yourself for me. So it feels like I’m touching you and you’re touching me.”
A slight chuckle and a voice, “Are you touching yourself?”
Kurt immediately placed his hand beneath his pants and stroked himself. “I am now.”
“Good. Now close your eyes and just let yourself get into the moment. How good it feels.”
Closing his eyes, Kurt imagined what the operator looked like. If he was as sexy as he sounded, if he actually touched himself, how good it must feel. He imagined the man on the other end, his hand on his dick, speaking in his ear. Eventually, it was all too much and Kurt came.
“Oh my God...I...” Kurt blushed once more, thankful that he couldn’t be seen. “Thank you for that.”
“No problem, baby.”
Kurt grinned and was about to hang up before he got back on the line. “Could I call again?”
“Sure, I always enjoy the good returning clients.”
Kurt nodded, hanging up as he reminded himself that it was all he was. A client. The voice on the other end was just someone who did this for a living, pleasuring people who either couldn’t get any themselves or were poor, pathetic losers like him who got cheated on.
“I’m so pathetic.” Kurt sighed as he got up to go get cleaned up. He wondered if Stargazer really had come.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Meanwhile, back in Lima, Ohio, Sam got off the phone, taking a deep breath as he muttered to himself, “I really hope he didn’t recognize my voice.”
When he had gotten the call and heard the voice, he was partly hoping the caller’s name wasn’t Kurt. But the more they talked, the more he heard that distinctive voice, he knew it was him. He seriously couldn’t believe he was actually having phone sex, even if he had been acting, with one of his best friends.
Sam hadn’t seen himself ever doing this type of job. But after being a stripper, he figured there had to be another way to make money for his family. Then, he found out about phone sex operating and he thought it was something he could do. With all the impressions he had at his disposal, he figured he would have plenty of legwork to deal with.
Sure, the occasional callers freaked him out. Some of them were way too into gore and sometimes Sam had to separate himself from the situation, to remind himself that it was just an act and he wasn’t a part of it.
No one else, aside from his best friend Mike, knew he had this job. Mike only knew because he had answered his phone one day, only to hear that automated message, and Sam had to say something. Luckily, his friend didn’t judge him, just like he hadn’t judged him for being a stripper, and happily left to go eat lunch while Sam played ‘Alice’ to the Madhatter. He still was having trouble with that particular call.
So when Sam got calls like ones he got from Kurt, it was an easy one until they at least informed him of a kink or fetish. But Kurt wasn’t like that, he just needed someone to talk to. Sam was more than happy to provide some sort of release, but he felt awkward. He normally told Mike his frustrations or worries about calls, but he couldn’t tell Mike that Kurt called. It would do nothing but embarrass Kurt and he didn’t want that.
If Kurt called again, and Sam was slightly sure he wouldn’t, then he would be more than happy to continue with what had been started. He just hoped Kurt didn’t recognize his voice one day and get angry at him. He wasn’t trying to be deceitful, not at all. Sam was just afraid of what Kurt’s reaction would be. If anyone had an opinion he would listen to, it was Kurt’s. And Sam didn’t want Kurt to change his opinion of him.
Sure enough, the next night, Kurt called again and Sam put on his cowboy hat. He had work to do. This time, Kurt was calling because he wanted to try role playing. Sam smiled and said he could do that.
“I’ve always imagined this particular guy at my high school...really good looking. Reminded me of a cow boy. I always imagined what it’d be like for him to ride me. Of course this was before I met my ex...and after we broke up.” Kurt was saying and Sam grinned.
“Describe him for me?”
“He has blond hair. Green eyes. And his abs are to die for...I’ve seen him after a shower and...I always wanted to kiss him right there.”
Sam was floored as soon as he heard this. Kurt was talking about him! The thought of Kurt pushing him against the wall, his body still went, made Sam instantly grow hard and he bit his lip. Normally, he didn’t allow these calls to excite him, but it was Kurt. He was different.
“I can be your cowboy,” Sam said, his voice almost choked, as he palmed himself.
“Would you ride me?” Kurt asked, his voice sounding a little more lower, like he was really aroused.
“I would.” Sam said, moaning softly, in spite of himself. “I’d take you by the reigns, bend you over, and pound you into the ground.”
A low moan came over the line and Sam closed his eyes, desperately trying not to come. This was definitely not part of his job description. But Kurt’s voice did something to him, had always done something to him. It was difficult to keep from saying something to make the other man realize it was him.
Another thing about Sam that not a lot of people knew, mostly just his family, was that he was gay. He hadn’t been comfortable with himself in high school, and seeing how his friends were bullied gave him more of a reason to stay quiet. He dated a couple guys in college, but they never went anywhere, mainly because Sam was stuck on a certain brunet who had gotten his attention back in high school. However, he never had a chance either way, so nothing ever happened. Sam honestly didn’t think he stood a chance, even after he slowly began to come out.
Now here he was, faced with one of his fantasies come true, and yet, he was basically telling a lie. He was getting what he wanted without Kurt knowing who he was. It wasn’t fair, to either of them. But how could he even begin to tell Kurt about this?
One day, a few weeks after Kurt had been calling regularly, Sam made a decision to sort of...reveal himself. He wondered if Kurt would even realize it was him.
“Can I ask you something?” Kurt asked one day, giving Sam an opportunity to possibly tell Kurt the truth.
“Anything.”
“Have you...always done things like this?” Kurt asked softly. Sam wondered where he had gotten the idea to ask this from, but he didn’t mind.
“Nothing like...this specifically. I was a stripper in high school, though.”
The line was quiet for a moment, then Kurt said, “Stripper? Wha-why high school?”
Clearing his throat, Sam sighed. “To help out my family financially.” As soon as the words were said, the line went quiet.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
It had to be a coincidence, Kurt thought to himself, there was no way the voice on the other end could be Sam. But then again, his voice had sounded so familiar each time they spoke, making Kurt wonder if he knew this person. However, there were plenty of people who worked in the phone sex industry, how could he have possibly gotten Sam? Why would he choose this job?
Not that Kurt thought there was anything wrong with it. If he did, he wouldn’t have called. But if it was Sam, it explained why he felt so comfortable talking to Stargazer, even if he didn’t know for sure who he was. Plus, Sam loved stargazing. Everything was coming together too much to be a coincidence. Kurt had to talk to Sam. But he wouldn’t do it here, where his friend wasn’t standing in front of him.
“If you’re who I think you are...I’m coming home.” He said, hoping Stargazer understood.
“Okay.” He replied and after that, Kurt hung up the phone.

When they were finally together, standing face to face in the doorway of Sam’s apartment, Kurt didn’t know what to say. The story sounded like a complicated one, one that he wouldn’t begin to understand. However, he had a feeling he would, because this was Sam. One of his best friends who had been so much, and who Kurt cared about greatly.
Once invited inside, Kurt looked at Sam, tilting his head as he looked at his friend. The way Sam looked, so ashamed, so guilty, made Kurt wonder if his friend knew he had been talking to him the whole time.
“You knew it was me.” It wasn’t a question, but it was a statement. One that spoke so much and Sam sighed as he nodded. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Kurt couldn’t figure out if he was feeling a sting of betrayal or a broken heart at Sam not being brave enough to talk to him as himself.
“I didn’t know what you’d think of me. I...I was scared you’d judge me.”
Kurt scoffed, shaking his head as he walked closer to Sam. “You should know I’d never judge you, Sam.” Biting his lip, Kurt reached out to take Sam’s hand. “But you should have told me it was you.”
“I know, I’m sorry. I...just please forgive me?” Sam asked, his eyes wide and sad.
“Of course I forgive you.” Kurt said, smiling slightly. “Just...why did you take this job?”
“To make money and...this way, no one’s trying to touch my abs when I...I don’t want them to.”
Kurt looked at Sam, glancing at his torso before looking up into his eyes. “What about me? I don’t suppose I could get to touch your abs?”
Sam looked up at this and Kurt saw a spark of hope in his eyes. “I’ve been dreaming of you touching me...ever since you asked me to ride you.”
Blushing, Kurt looked down at the memory of that second phone call, when he had been a bit more confident, before looking back up. “Just so you know, when you ride me for real...I’m not paying.”
Reaching one hand up, Sam stroked Kurt’s cheek gently. “Good. Because being with you is priceless.” Leaning in, Sam kissed Kurt passionately, pulling him close as he made a promise with his kiss, to be with Kurt and to give him everything he desired.

With Kurt on his path to stardom was his best friend, Rachel, another Broadway hopeful who often boasted that she won her first dance competition at three months old. At first, these two made for an unlikely friendship, but somehow they bonded and became the best of friends. So, Kurt and Rachel made their way to New York and found an apartment that, while small and not the best of places, made a nice home for them. It was a place to go after endless auditions and work as much as they could while going to school, and finally getting jobs to support themselves.
Because he was so busy with auditions, shows, and work, Kurt didn’t have much time for dating. His last boyfriend had cheated on him, a wound that was still raw in some ways. Rachel often encouraged him to date, even setting him up with a handsome British guy who was the sweetest person Kurt had ever met. However, it just didn’t feel like something was there and they ended up becoming good friends.
One evening, Kurt had just finished a show and his friends were talking about a bar they frequented. Tanner was going on about the new hot bartender when Michael turned to Kurt.
“Hey, you should come with us, Kurt!”
Kurt looked up from putting his jacket on, not having been listening much to the conversation. “Where?”
“To this place called Posh. It’s awesome! You haven’t been there yet, have you?”
Kurt shook his head, a small smile gracing his features. “No, I’m not into the club scene.”
Tanner turned his sights onto Kurt, giving him a smile. “Oh, come on, you have to come! They have the best drinks and oh my God, the new bartender is delicious.” He licked his lips and Kurt rolled his eyes.
“I have work tomorrow.” He tried to counter, but the guys weren’t hearing it.
Michael held up one finger to Kurt’s face, making him give him a look. “One hour, Kurt.”
Sighing, and hoping he wouldn’t regret this, Kurt shrugged his shoulders. “Fine, I’ll go. But if I have a rotten time, I’m buying the most expensive drink and putting it on your tab.”
“Yeah, fine, whatever.” Tanner said, a bounce in his step as he was clearly happy to have gotten his way.
The bar wasn’t too far away from them, which Kurt was thankful for because he did not want to walk home too late. They walked in and Kurt was the last, keeping his head down low as he wasn’t quite sure how to act in a place like this. He had gone to a bar once in his teens and that hadn’t been very successful, so he didn’t try to go again.
“There he is. Isn’t he gorgeous?” Tanner said, tapping Kurt lightly on the arm.
Looking up, Kurt found himself staring at one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen. The blond man behind the counter was effortlessly making drinks, his muscles bulging beneath a tight, white v-neck shirt. Kurt couldn’t take his eyes off of him. Feeling a gentle tap on his arm, Kurt didn’t respond as Michael spoke, “I think we need to get a bib for Kurt. He’s drooling.”
A beat later, Kurt shook himself off and cleared his throat. “Who’s that?”
Michael grinned as he obliged Kurt with the information. “Name’s Sam. He’s the new bartender and he is amazing. I’ve never seen someone make three drinks in under thirty seconds.”
“Impressive.” Kurt said, not really noticing the guys as he walked over to the bar. As soon as he got there, Sam glanced at him and smiled. “Hey, I’ll be right with you, man, just give me a second.”
Kurt nodded, letting out a breathy “Take your time,” before sitting at a stool. Soon, Sam walked over to where Kurt was sitting and held out his arms on the counter, only making his shirt stretch across his toned chest. “What would you like?”
Kurt almost said ‘You’ but then shook his head, smiling as he ordered a Cosmo. “You got it.” The beautiful man said as he made Kurt’s drink. “I’m Sam. you been here before?”
God, even his voice is beautiful, Kurt thought to himself before shaking his head no. “No, my friends brought me here.” He said, turning to glance over at Tanner and Michael.
“Yes, Tanner. He’s very...talkative.” Sam said after a moment, making Kurt chuckle.
“He has a way with words, that’s for sure.” Kurt could only imagine the things Tanner said to Sam and he then he realized he never did tell Sam his name. “Oh! I’m Kurt by the way.”
“Pleasure to meet you.” Sam said with a smile as he put a napkin down in front of Kurt and placed the drink on top of it.
Kurt smiled, but he didn’t have a chance to have much of a conversation with Sam. The other man was busy working, which Kurt could understand. He was new and to keep his job, he had to keep the customers happy. Kurt was just fine with staring longingly at the man, looking down every time Sam looked his way.
Kurt was so busy looking at Sam, he didn’t notice when his friends left that it was late until Sam pointed out that they were closing soon.
Realizing what time it was, Kurt sighed and shook his head. “I have to be at work in...five hours. No sleep for me tonight.” Kurt said sheepishly.
Sam laughed and shrugged. “It happens. Do you need me to call you a cab?”
Kurt looked at Sam, surprised that he would do that, but then realized it was his job. “Sure. It’ll get me home quicker.”
“I can do that for you.” Sam smiled as he grabbed the phone and dialed. After a moment, he hung up and looked at Kurt. “They’ll be here in ten minutes.”
“Okay.” Kurt said softly, before blurting out, “When do you work next?”
Sam looked up, smiling slightly as Kurt shook his head.
“I’m so sorry, that’s not my business. It’s just...you made my Cosmo perfectly and I might have a new favorite bartender.”
Sam laughed and obliged Kurt after this comment, “How could I deny that pretty face?” Kurt blushed as he heard Sam speak, “I work Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.”
Kurt nodded, unable to take his eyes from Sam for several long moments. There was just something about this handsome man that captivated him, making him want to see him longer than just a few hours a night.
Reluctantly, Kurt headed home, his thoughts filled with blond hair and emerald eyes even as he fell asleep.

The next day, Rachel immediately asked Kurt what was going on. She was very surprised he came home so late and Kurt shrugged, not giving her much of an answer.
“I was at the club with a couple guys, I told you this.”
“Uh huh. You never stay out that late. Tell me who he is.” Rachel raised an eyebrow and Kurt cursed the day she began to know him so well.
“Well...he’s not really...he’s this bartender and I barely spoke to him.”
“But he’s cute?”
Kurt bit his lip before gushing, “Let’s just say if Adonis had a son, he would be his heir.”
Rachel squealed and clapped her hands. “What’s his name?”
“Sam. I didn’t get a last name. But he’s so cute, Rachel!”
Rachel looked positively thrilled and she didn’t stop grinning. “Kurt, you have to ask him out!”
“I can’t, I don’t know anything about him. He could be straight!”
Raising an eyebrow, Rachel shook her head and Kurt smiled sheepishly. “Or he could have a boyfriend.”
“You never know til you find out!”
As it turned out, luck was on Kurt’s side because Rachel came home one day to tell Kurt some news. “I was telling Quinn all about your guy-””
“Oh, come on, Rachel, he’s not my guy.” Kurt said, shaking his head as he smiled regardless of his friend’s craziness.
Rachel ignored him, instead choosing to continue with her story. “Anyway, your description of the club and your friend Sam reminded her of her roommate and sure enough, when she asked him, he remembered seeing you!”
Kurt’s heart skipped a beat and he smiled. “Wait, how did he find out so quickly?”
“She texted him and he happened to be up. She told me he is in fact single.” Rachel winked and Kurt blushed.
The thought that Sam could like him made Kurt swoon, but having had no luck with guys in the past, Kurt shook his head. “He’s completely out of my league, though. What would a guy like him want with a guy like me?”
Rachel just smiled and Kurt thought about this entire thing as he went to the bar that night. Sure enough, Sam was working and looked at Kurt.
“I hear we have friends in common.” He laughed softly.
“Yes, your roommate is a good friend of my friend, Rachel’s.” Kurt replied, just looking at Sam, ignoring everything else around them.
Sam smiled back as he grabbed a shaker. “You want the usual?”
“Yes, please.” Kurt said softly, watching as Sam got to work on his drink. Even though it was only his second trip to the bar, Kurt felt comfortable being here. Maybe it was because he was in the presence of an amazing guy? Well, maybe Kurt didn’t know him well enough, but something about the way Sam interacted with everyone made him think Sam was amazing.
And so it was, just like the first night he came here, he spent the whole night at the bar, either talking to Sam or just gazing at him. He was starting to think he might be acting a little creepy, but Sam didn’t seem to mind. Or maybe he was hiding it?
One evening, Kurt broached the subject, tentatively asking Sam if he minded that he hung out every night he was there. Sam smiled, shook his head, and replied, “Not at all, Kurt. It’s awesome seeing you here. You make my nights brighter.”
If Kurt wasn’t already pink because Sam was talking to him, he was bright red. Comments like these made him wonder why he just didn’t ask Sam out already. However, he knew the answer, which was he was afraid of rejection.
The daily meet ups at the bar became a thing for two weeks. Kurt would come every night Sam was working, Sam would make his Cosmo, and Kurt would sit for hours, waiting for the opportunity for Sam to be able to converse with him. Every night he was there, Kurt could feel the urge rising to ask Sam out, but he never did. He chickened out and hated himself every night for it. It felt like Sam could be waiting for him to say the words, with how he’d look at Kurt at the end of the evening, but he couldn’t do it.
This particular evening, Kurt was there as usual when Sam began closing up the bar. When the last customer left, Sam was wiping down the counter while Kurt played with his empty glass. He was hoping tonight would be the night and he’d get the courage to say those words. But like every night, it felt like a chore to even try and get the words out. Kurt wished he was brave enough to just come out and ask. He was in the middle of mulling this over when Sam walked over and Kurt looked up, giving him a smile.
“You finished? I have to clean that before I close up.” Sam said with a smile, one that seemed as though it was reserved for Kurt. It was the only time he saw the smile.
“Oh, yes!” Kurt blushed, feeling embarrassed as he handed the glass to Sam. “Here you go.”
Sam smiled and got to work cleaning the glass before putting it away. Kurt watched as he got everything turned off before he walked around the counter to stand in front of him.
“So...closing time.” Sam said, earning a chuckle from Kurt.
“Yeah...” Kurt smiled softly, not moving at all, even though he knew he should head home.
“Can I ask you something?” Sam asked, after a few moments of silence.
Kurt drew in a breath. This was it, he thought, the moment he had been waiting for. But what if it wasn’t the moment? He tried not to get his hopes up, but it was so hard when Sam was looking at him so intently. “Of course.”
Sam licked his lips, turning his head to the side before looking back at Kurt. “I...I really like you, Kurt.”
“I like you too, Sam.” Kurt said softly, thinking he meant as friends.
Sam chuckled, letting out a breath before stepping a bit closer to Kurt. “No, I meant...I really like you. And...I see the way you look at me. I think it’s obvious you like me too.”
Kurt smiled and nodded his head. “I do...I really like you.”
“So...aren’t you going to ask me out already?”
Kurt laughed softly, his cheeks still flushed as he nodded. “Sam, will you go on a date with me?”
“I’d love to,” Sam replied, after pretending to think it over.
“Great. I can’t wait.” Kurt said, so giddy that he wanted to jump up and down. He couldn’t wait to go home and tell Rachel. Most of all, he couldn’t wait to see the look on Tanner’s face when he realized Kurt had gotten a date with the gorgeous bartender he had been eyeing.
“Where do you want to go?” Sam asked.
Kurt smiled and leaned in to press a chaste kiss to Sam’s lips. It wasn’t traditional, waiting for a kiss until the first date, but then, Kurt had been dreaming of tasting those lips since the moment Sam smiled at him that first night. He knew the chaste kiss wouldn’t be enough, because Sam’s lips felt so good, but he didn’t want to get carried away. “I’ll pick the place. You just show up looking as you always do.”
“How’s that?” Sam asked, already leaning in as if wanting another kiss.
“Gorgeous.” Kurt said, pressing another kiss to Sam’s lips, because he couldn’t help himself, before making his way out the door, missing the fist pump and excited ‘Yes’ that escaped Sam’s lips the moment the door closed. And just like all the nights he had since meeting Sam, Kurt knew he wouldn’t be sleeping tonight. Instead, he’d be planning the perfect date with the man of his dreams.
