SHIP AND LET SHIP part I
Can’t we all enjoy what we enjoy, without pretending that Kubo doesn’t change his mind from chapter to chapter?
I don’t claim ‘‘DEATH OF THE AUTHOR’‘, although the only thing between him and author existence failure is the fact that the people that own and know how to use sniper rifle ,don’t use it in the kind of wars that he starts.
When George RRRRRRRRR Martin said that there are 2 types of writers, architects and gardeners, he forgot the third type, the make-up-shitters, of which TK is a sub type.He pretends to be an architect, but he’s actually a gardener, which is not the problem per se, but he just isn’t that good at gardening .
A good gardener lets his characters grow organically, even if he then has to tweak the plot.
An architect, a plotter has a nice story, no plot holes , but her characters are constrained by the plot.
A perfect author will have both.
A Tite Kubo has an idea in the middle of his story. That idea can be cool, edgy or trolish. But like a toddler with a new toy, he wants to play with it right now.
So the established characters, their backstories an relationships, the plot, the intricate world building and more importantly MY F@#$ING PATIENCE , are all forced bend around backwards for this idea.
And it is not one idea. His ides are for story continuity, logic and consistent characterization what Kudzu vines are for gardening.
